Hello, my name is Kathy Rasco. I am so fortunate to be working in the ever-growing field of English as a Second Language. I entered this area of education almost blindly--I was looking for a new opportunity to "expand my horizons"---and did I choose the right job!!!! I have taken several courses to gain
certification, and through these, have learned much, much needed information. However, nothing has taught me as well as actually working with my students--I honestly believe that I have learned as much, if not more, than the kids I work with. My students come from many, many counties: China, Viet Nam, Egypt, Pakistan, France, Brazil, and Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and Spain, to name a few. Together we are constantly not only learning a new language, but an appreciation for all cultures and beliefs.
My schedule is ever-changing--it really depends on the number of students that attend schools in our district. Surprises happen all the time with the arrival of new children moving into the area, so it can be challenging to find me at times. I serve students at Neville, Lee Jr. High, Jefferson Upper Elementary, MLK Middle School, and Lexington, Sallie Humble, J.S. Clark, Cypress Point and Minnie Ruffin Elementary Schools. For your convenience, call me at Neville, where I begin and end each day!!
To give a bit more information about myself--I also spend lots of time with Neville athletics--I coach boys and girls cross country, soccer, and track. I also work with the Bengal Belles and sponsor the Key Club and our prom...busy? yes I am, but I love every minute of it!
