Is a quotation or an illustration more difficult to incorporate into an essay? And Why?

Answers

In my opinion, it is hard to decide whether which of the two is more difficult to be put into an essay as both the quotations and illustrations can add value to it, if incorporated effectively but that is where most of the people fail.

People tend to use direct quotations when they think the idea cannot be expressed or communicated more appropriately. While some people just give a reference to it and paraphrase it in their own words, which sometimes loses its meaning or the level of effectiveness that original quotation had in it.

On the contrary, an illustration, I think, is more difficult to incorporate into an essay because it has to clearly express and bespeak in accordance to support the idea being discussed with the use of an evidence.

Identify the common noun in the following sentence. Every year, Blake Middle School hosts its annual Spring Fling. A) year B) Blake Middle School C) annual D) Spring Fling

Answers

It is C because annual is every year

The common noun in the sentence is 'year,' as it refers to a general period and is not specific or capitalized. The other options either refer to specific names or are adjectives. The correct option is A.

To find the common noun, we need to understand what common nouns are. A common noun refers to a general item or concept, rather than a specific one. It can be used with articles 'the,' 'a,' or 'an.' Examples include 'car,' 'city,' and 'school.'

Let's analyze the options:

year: This is a general term that refers to a period, and it is not capitalized or specific to one instance. You can say 'a year,' making it a common noun.Blake Middle School: This is a proper noun because it refers to a specific school. Proper nouns are always capitalized, and one cannot say 'a Blake Middle School.'annual: This is an adjective describing something that occurs yearly.Spring Fling: This is a proper noun as it names a specific event and is capitalized.

Shakespeare focused more on the way you can imagine a scene other than have a rhyme to it like in the poem. For example, the content and style of Shakespeare got more into detail about how big of a fight it was for example the text said “By thee, old Capulet, and Montague, Have thrice disturbed the quiet of our streets.” You can also see that Shakespeare was genuinely into expressing the outrage these people had the text also said “That quench the fire of your pernicious rage with purple fountains issuing from your veins.”

How does the narrator in “the nuns priest tale” make the story seem epic and heroic? How do the word choice and phrasing affect the narration?

The narrator in "The Nun’s Priest’s Tale" decides to tell a humorous fable about farm animals. He chooses the lofty style of epic narration to relate his commonplace story of a rooster and a fox. Chanticleer’s boasts are like those of epic characters. Pertelote’s screams are likened to the loud shrieks of Hasdrubal’s wife on learning of his death in Carthage. The answer is option C: The reader would know more about Hamadi’s inner thoughts and feelings and less about Susan’s.

The first person point of view is used to provide readers with the narrator's feelings and inner thoughts. As a consequence, if "Hamadi" had been written in the first person with Hamadi as the narrator, then readers would not have so much information about what motivates the rest of the characters, and the account would be influenced by Hamadi's emotions and prejudices.

Five hours, (and who can do it less in?)  / By haughty Celia spent in dressing;  /The goddess from her chamber issues,  / Arrayed in lace, brocades and tissues.

It is a satire about an upper-class woman’s dressing room.  Women of higher classes tend to spend more time embellishing themselves than women of lower classes do. They care more about their physical appearance.

Final answer:

Lines from 'The Lady's Dressing Room' like 'Five Hours, (and who can do it less in?)' and 'Littered with rags of the finest lace' help infer Celia's high social class through markers of wealth and time

Explanation:

The question asks for a line from the poem 'The Lady's Dressing Room' that would help the reader infer Celia's social class. One line that could provide insight would be 'Five Hours, (and who can do it less in?)', which implies her wealth and higher status because she has the leisure time for such a lengthy act of grooming. Another line is 'Littered with rags of the finest lace', indicating her high social standing by the fine materials in her possession. Which situation is the best example of a zero sum game?

I believe the correct answer is B. I hope this helped. Have a good day.

The correct answer is b. Conflict is the conqueror's life; the only way to get more land is to take it from someone else.

To find the best option lets investigate what a zero-sum game means. It represents that the victory of one side automatically represents the loss of the other. All the other options do not qualify in this definition, given that they represent a win/win game and a logistic example.

The Conqueror's story expressed in the text qualifies exactly for the zero-sum game. Given that the win of the conqueror (land) is based on the losses of the conquered (loss of land).

Plz Help!! Re-read the passage Douglass writes after he fights with Mr. Covey. What does Douglass mean by, "however long I might remain a slave in form, the day has passed forever when I could be a slave in fact."

Answers

"Form" relates to physical "form." "Fact" relates to the person themselves. Most likely (And this is without any other context. If this is not the right question, I'd recommend including the paragraph.) this piece means that Douglass may be a slave to someone, but he has freedoms and rights.

Final answer:

Douglass means that while he may remain physically enslaved, his enlightenment through literacy has freed his mind, ensuring he can no longer be subjugated in spirit.

Explanation:

Frederick Douglass articulates a profound shift in his journey from being enslaved in body to achieving freedom in mind. "However long I might remain a slave in form, the day has passed forever when I could be a slave in fact," signifies Douglass's internal liberation. The oppressive institution of slavery could no longer hold his spirit or intellect in bondage after he discovered the transformative power of literacy and education. Despite the physical constraints, his ability to read, contemplate, and communicate ideas of freedom and equality rekindled his determination to resist enslavement. Douglass's narrative reflects this transition from despair to empowerment; through learning and a resolute fight against his oppressor, he reclaimed his identity and resolved that he would never again submit to the will of another as a slave in essence, even though he might still appear to be one externally.
