Today, the visible remains of Mexico's Colonial era are the ornate churches and palacios, either government office buildings or the homes of Colonial officials, still surviving, in the center of Mexico's larger cities.

The palacios have thick walls and portales, broad covered walkways, with wide arches supported by pillars. They shelter sidewalk cafes, vendors of foods, jewelry, arts and crafts and sometimes a remnant of the past, scribes who write letters or documents for illiterates. Modeled on the architecture of Spain but modified by the native artisans who incorporated pre-conquest symbols, these largely baroque buildings are still in use and are major tourist attractions. Most of them rim the large zocalos, the central town squares of major cities. Even today these plazas are the focal point of city life. The original centers of colonial cities have a grid of streets running north-south and east-west. This arrangement, modeled on the plan of Renaissance era city design in Europe, was also how the indigenous Mexicans built their cities and the newcomers simply tore down the native temples and palaces and replaced them with similar structures, preserving the original plaza.

if leaders wanted to created a govermment that is more effective than the governmment under the articles of confederation, which is the most important idea that should be embraced?

Answers

Answer:

I believe that the best answer to the question: If leaders wanted to create a government that is more effective than the government under the Articles of Confederation, which is the most important idea that should be embraced? would be: a national government that shared equal power with the state governments. One that were much stronger than it was when it was first established, to become the balance. In this way neither each individual state would have the upper hand on the other, nor would the states have more power than the national government.

Explanation:

When the national government in the U.S was established by the Articles of Confederation, this government did not hold any power whatsoever, with the state governments leading everything. However, this soon became a problem as there was no balance between the different states, and also, there was no central government that could mediate in matters that affected the nation at large, but that each state would have pushed to make it so that it favored them, and not the others. Finally, they realized that there were issues with the topic of taxation, and also defense against possible outside hostilities against the nation. Although a national government was established, it was much later that its powers were increased by the new Constitution, so that these needs were met.

Demand for bikes has suddenly increased and the market price has risen from 50 to 60.In three to five sentences explain how this change will affect profits?

Answers

Because the demand has gone up too, the bikes should gain more profit. Eventually there will be too many bikes produced and their value will drop.

Answer:

If the market price of bikes rises from $50 to $60, then the company will want to produce a larger quantity of bikes. This is because the overall marginal revenue is now higher and will be maximized differently. Before profit was maximized at six bikes, now the profit will be maximized by producing more bikes, perhaps seven.

Answers

Old Immigrants were more protestant, examples like the quakers. Unlike the new being primary Jewish and roman catholic.

Final answer:

Old vs. new immigrants in the 1800s in the United States, their origins, religious backgrounds, and challenges faced in assimilation and acceptance.

Explanation:

Old immigrants in the 1800s were primarily from Western Europe, including British, French, Dutch, German, and Scandinavian origins, often referred to as old-stock Americans. These immigrants were predominantly Protestant. In contrast, the 'new' immigrants arriving later were from southern and eastern Europe and Asia, practicing Catholicism or Judaism.

Nativists aimed to restrict non-Protestant immigration and held prejudices against Catholic immigrants, such as the Irish. This discrimination evolved as new immigrants from Italy, Russia, and Austria arrived in large numbers, facing challenges of assimilation and cultural acceptance.

Immigrant communities often settled in ethnic clusters in urban areas, fostering a sense of belonging and preserving their cultural heritage while incorporating American customs. They acted as a bridge between their original culture and American society, despite facing stereotypes and prejudices.

In “Four Freedoms Speech,” how does Roosevelt use the four freedoms he identifies to make a strong statement about the war in Europe?

By linking the freedoms to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, Roosevelt persuades his audience that the "dictators" have similar ideals and could be strong allies for America.

By introducing the freedoms at the start of the speech, Roosevelt uses them as an organizing device to guide his audience through the "physical aggression" and the many war crimes that have occurred during the war.

By contrasting the "moral order" of the freedoms with the "new order" that dictatorships enforce with "bombs" and "concentration camps," Roosevelt makes it clear to his audience which side is just and decent.

By citing specific examples of how each freedom has been violated by "dictators," Roosevelt creates a strong and detailed illustration of the ways in which the dictatorships are a threat to "civilized society" throughout the world.

why do people hunt on grassland

Answers

because thats where most wild animals have their habitat

Final answer:

People hunt on grasslands in gathering and hunting societies to obtain food, clothing, and materials for tools. Grasslands provide a variety of game animals, making them ideal hunting grounds.

Explanation:

In gathering and hunting societies, people rely on the natural resources readily available in their environment. They gather fruits, nuts, berries, and roots and collect honey from wild bees. They hunt and trap wild animals, and they fish in rivers and lakes. Many gathering-hunting groups also engage in limited ways in other modes of subsistence.

Some hunting practices may have developed as a response to the diminishing of key game species due to overhunting, prompting hunters to devise strategies to enhance the animals' diet and reproduction. Controlling the movement of wild herds to territories rich in grazing resources or conducive to certain hunting strategies may have been one such strategy.

Hunting on grasslands provides a source of food and materials for clothing and tools. Grasslands often support a variety of game animals, such as bison, deer, antelope, rabbits, and birds, making them prime hunting grounds for gathering and hunting societies.

White students attended different schools than African American students. African Americans could vote if they paid a poll tax and took literacy tests.  African Americans could not go to the same restaurants or theaters as whites.

The correct examples of Jim Crow laws include racial segregation in schools, the imposition of poll taxes and literacy tests to disenfranchise African American voters, and segregation in public places like restaurants and theaters.

Jim Crow laws enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States from the end of Reconstruction in 1877 until the civil rights movement in the 1960s.They mandated the separation of races in public schools, public places, public transportation, restrooms, and restaurants.Barriers like poll taxes and literacy tests were designed to disenfranchise African American voters, making it exceedingly difficult for them to exercise their right to vote. The Supreme Court case Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) upheld the principle of 'separate but equal,' which legalized segregation and led to widespread discrimination against African Americans.

Describe three reasons why the french had better relations with Native Americans than other Europeans had.

Answers

1. The French traded fur with the Native Americans, so they generally treated them better than the other Europeans who would exploit the Natives and their only intention was to take their land for colonization. The fur trade was a major factor in the peaceful relations between the Natives and French.

2. The French settled in Quebec (their first permanent settlement in North America), and continued to have a strong relationship with the local Native Americans that included the continuation of the fur trade as well as intermarriage being common.

3. In the mid 1700s, the English settlers clashed with the Native Americans in the region. During these conflicts, the French supported the Natives, and even fought by their side during the French and Indian war.

The French and the Native Americans were on friendly terms than other Europeans for reasons such as:

Intermarriages between the two French more interested in trade French didn't come in large numbers

When the French came to North America, they were developed good relationships with the Natives which ensured that the Natives generally preferred them to other Europeans.

The reasons for this were:

The French came to the Americas primarily to trade and not to settle which meant that they did not try to take Native land. The French intermarried with the Natives more than any other Europeans which showed that they respected Natives as humans The French did not come to the Americas in the large numbers that the British did which meant they did not need much land.

In conclusion, the French did not disrupt the way of life of the Natives and treated them with respect and this led to good relations between them.
