Read the passage below and answer the question that follows:
Seneca Falls: Common Ground
By Andrea Brecheen
The Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 was the single-most important event of the early women's suffrage movement. The suffrage movement grew out of centuries of shameful and unfair treatment of women. At the time of the Convention, women did not have the right to vote or serve on juries, and many women were unable to inherit property. In the decades leading up to the Convention, a small group of women began to rebel against these injustices. Suffrage originated from women's participation in the anti-slavery and temperance movements.
The Seneca Falls Convention was the first conference dedicated to women's rights. The Convention was organized by two female abolitionists, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. Lucretia Mott was an eloquent Quaker social reformer. Mott had previously been denied the right to speak at an anti-slavery conference in London after the men voted to exclude women from participating. Unlike many women of her time, Elizabeth Cady Stanton received a formal education. At the age of 16, Stanton studied mathematics, Latin, and Greek, demonstrating her keen abilities by mastering the subjects alongside boys of her own age.
Coming together to support the suffrage movement, Mott and Stanton organized the Convention in Seneca Falls, NY in July of 1848. During the six-day meeting, Stanton presented the Declaration of Sentiments, a document she based on the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration, she so elegantly wrote, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal." The Declaration included a list of grievances detailing the treatment of women. The Declaration was signed by sixty-eight women and thirty-two men.
Following the Convention, in 1848 the New York State Assembly passed the Married Women's Act. This act protected property that women brought into or earned during marriage.

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The Catholic Church and Roman Emperor connected to each other in that they both had an intrinsic relationship of power and control over the citizens of Rome.

Let's have in mind that it was Emperor Constantine the one that established Christianity in Rome in the first place. After being a persecutor of Christians, Constantine had a dream in which Archangel Gabriel told him that if he converted to Christianity, he would win all his battles. Then, the relationship between the Roman Emperor and the Pope was a relationship based on convenience, power, and control. They needed each other to exploit the people and exert their power.

this is a pretty long answer but :
The French Revolution and American Revolution had some similar aspects; however, there are a lot of differences between these two wars. A main difference is the context of the war. The American Revolution was caused by a majority of the America population becoming unhappy because of how the British were ruling them. Both the American and French Revolutions were focused around liberty and equality. Both countries were trying to gain freedom. America was trying to gain freedom from the rules and taxes put upon them by Great Britain. Whereas the French wanted to abolish the French monarchy and create a better government in which the people could have more of a say in society. Although the revolutions of both started for very similar reasons, and both countries fought for the same thing, the outcomes of the two were very different. The American Revolution was mainly focused on gaining independence. After the British victory during the Seven Year War, America was tied down from the British rules. America was obligated to pay off the war, and to pay the high taxes that British Parliament assigned. The British enforced the Stamp Act on the Americans. The stamp tax levied taxes on commercial and legal documents, such as, diplomas, pamphlets, newspapers, almanacs, dice, and playing cards. A stamp glued to each article indicated that the tax had been paid. What also angered the Americans was the lack of representation from the British Parliament, Americans had to no way to speak their mind to the British, other than rebellion. The British had crossed the line when they allowed the East India Tea Company to ship their products directly to the colonies, rather than sending it through the middlemen in London. In order to show the public's opinion, Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense, this book ridiculed the idea of a small island ruling a large continent, this was a call for freedom and republican government. After much fighting, the Americans finally found a way to make things fair. On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson. By 1783, Britain allowed the 13 colonies of North America to have independence. The common people of France wanted to get rid of the French monarchy, the lower classes wanted to enforce equality rather than having the nobles and the king overpower them. Like the Americans, the French were also in debt from war, they entered the Seven Years War by using borrowed money. In order to pay the it off, the king, Louis XIV, levied a large tax, however the people refused to pay. To resolve this issue, Louis went to converse.
The French Revolution and American Revolution had some similar aspects; however, there are a lot of differences between these two wars. A main difference is the context of the war. The American Revolution was caused by a majority of the America population becoming unhappy because of how the British were ruling them. They believed they deserved more freedom from the British. The French Revolution was started by French’s lower class because they were unhappy with how they were being treated. Although both of the wars were caused by similar reasons, they were started by completely different kinds of people. One started by all different classes of people, but led by the upper class, and the other started by the lower class of a country. Another difference is who got involved after these Revolutions started. The American Revolution pretty much stayed between the Americans and the British except when the French joined. The French Revolution started between the French lower class and the French government. It then evolved into the French fighting against other monarchies in Europe such as Austria and Prussia. Another smaller difference is that the French Revolution was more violent and bloody. The revolutionaries in the French Revolution would kill anyone who they heard were supporters of the king. The revolutionaries in the American Revolution never really killed supporters of the British and weren’t very violent to British people unless they were in battle. These are just a few of the many difference between the French and American Revolutions.

what was the outcome of saint-simon's audience with louis xiv

Answers

Final answer:

Despite the way the question is phrased, history records no significant meeting between Henri de Saint-Simon and Louis XIV as they lived in different centuries. It would be helpful if the Saint-Simon and Louis being referred to could be made clear.

Explanation:

It appears there might be some confusion in the question as there are no historic records indicating a significant meeting between Saint-Simon and Louis XIV. Henri de Saint-Simon was a French political and economic theorist whose ideas had influence on the development of socialism, while Louis XIV was the King of France much earlier, known for his autocratic rule. As the two lived in different centuries, it seems unlikely a meeting could have occurred.

However, if you're referring to a different Saint-Simon or Louis, it'd be helpful to clarify. For example, there was a Louis de Rouvroy, duc de Saint-Simon, who was a French statesman and writer known for his comprehensive memoirs of Louis XIV's court and the Regency.

B. Congress passed amendments to the Constitution to severely limit freed slaves' rights.
C. Freed slaves had to form their own governments despite little political experience.
D. Many states deported freed slaves to Haiti and other Latin American countries.

Answers

Final answer:

A major challenge for former slaves after abolition was economic dependency on former slave owners, as many freed slaves worked for low wages on their former owners' lands due to limited opportunities.

Explanation:

The statement that best describes a major challenge facing former slaves after the abolition of slavery in the United States is: Many freed slaves had no choice but to work for low wages on their former owners' lands. This was a consequence of the systemic limitations that prevented full participation in society and the economy for African Americans. After the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery, the economic structures and discriminatory laws limited the opportunities for freed slaves, often resulting in sharecropping and tenant farming, which kept them in poverty and economically dependent on their former owners.

The rider attached to the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889 gave __________ the right to __________ the Unassigned Lands for settlement.

Answers

The rider attached to the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889 gave the United States government the right to open the Unassigned Lands for settlement.

The Indian Appropriations Act of 1889 was a piece of legislation that had a significant impact on the history of the United States, particularly concerning the settlement of the western territories. A rider is an additional provision added to a bill or act that is not necessarily related to the original purpose of the legislation. In the case of the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889, the rider in question was added to allow for the opening of the Unassigned Lands, which were areas in what is now Oklahoma that had not been assigned to any Native American tribe.

The Unassigned Lands were originally set aside for Native American resettlement, but with the rider attached to the act, the United States government was given the authority to open these lands for non-Native American settlement. This event is often referred to as the Oklahoma Land Rush or the Land Run of 1889. The rider effectively ended the previous policy of setting aside these lands exclusively for Native Americans and marked a significant shift in U.S. policy towards the Native American tribes.

The opening of the Unassigned Lands led to a significant influx of settlers into the area, and the establishment of new towns and communities, which contributed to the eventual statehood of Oklahoma in 1907. The rider and the subsequent land rush are important historical events that reflect the broader themes of westward expansion and the displacement of Native American peoples during the late 19th century in the United States.

Hello there!

During the New Deal Era Americans fought the Great Depression in many different ways.

The New Deal was a policy enforced by Franklin D. Roosevelt to fight the effects of the Great Depression between 1933 and 1938.

The different measures that were taken during the New Deal Era included bank reform laws, agricultural programs, work aid programs, social assistance programs, social security law, among others.

These measures were highly successful in the social sphere, the country changed without the need for a revolution, but they had a moderate success in the economic sphere.

The New Deal Era under President Roosevelt aimed to combat the Great Depression through innovative programs and reforms, significantly impacting American society and the economy.

The New Deal Era refers to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's response to the Great Depression in the 1930s, aiming to stimulate the economy and provide relief to Americans. This initiative included programs like the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that aimed to create jobs and improve infrastructure.

One of the key features of the New Deal was the implementation of social safety net programs like Social Security and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to protect citizens from economic hardships. Despite criticisms, the New Deal era marked a significant shift in government intervention in the economy to address the challenges faced during the Great Depression.

President Roosevelt's bold plans during the New Deal era helped elevate millions out of poverty, provided relief to the unemployed, and instilled hope in a nation grappling with the economic crisis of the 1930s.

France used the treaty to force the German people to choose between Hitler's Nazi Party and the German Communists.

The treaty formed an alliance between Germany and the Soviet Union that allowed Hitler to occupy Eastern Europe.

Many Germans believed the treaty was unfair and humiliating, and Hitler used their anger to gain support.

Answers

Answer:  Many Germans believed the treaty was unfair and humiliating, and Hitler used their anger to gain support.

Explanation/details:

The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles put Germany in a situation that allowed the rise of Hitler and the Nazis, leading to World War II.

The Treaty of Versailles, which came out of the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, was very punitive towards Germany.  Germany was forced to admit responsibility for causing the Great War (World War I).  We now call that "the war guilt" clause of the treaty.  Germany also was forced to pay large reparation payments to the Allies (who opposed Germany in the war).   Germany also had to give up large portions of its territory and lost colonial territories.  And the German military had major restrictions imposed on it -- it had to be a volunteer military only, of no more than 100,000 men, and they could not have an air force.

The German economy and national pride were deeply wounded by the terms imposed by the Treaty of Versailles.  Coupled with that, the Great Depression (which had worldwide impact) made the economic situation even worse.  The bad situation in Germany made it possible for a radical leader like Hitler, making all sorts of bold promises, to win over enough people to rise to power.  Hitler promised a return to national greatness and fiercely rebuilt Germany as a military machine.  The rise of Hitler and the Nazis brought about World War II in Europe.

Choose all answers that are correct.

A.
Ford granted Nixon an unconditional pardon for any wrongdoings against the United States.

B.
Ford and his administration broke new ground with many changes to national and foreign policies.

C.
Ford tried to arrest draft protesters who had refused to fight in Vietnam.

D.
During Ford's administration, the last U.S. troops and support workers were evacuated from Vietnam.

Answers

A is correct. Ford acted through executive order to pardon Nixon for any wrongdoings committed during his presidency. This pardon was incredibly controversial as many Americans were quite upset and disillusioned by the actions of Nixon. Ford did this to help heal the country and prevent months, perhaps years, of investigation and trials.

This healing was vitally important as Ford also pulled the final troops from Vietnam making option D also correct. Final troops were pulled in 1975 and shortly after Saigon fell to the communists. It is under Ford's administration that Vietnam is "lost".

Ford made no radical changes in the US during his administration even as the economy began to suffer. Additionally he took no action with Vietnam draft dodgers.

During the early 19th century, canals improved America the most. One reason why this is the case is because canals helped to significantly reduce the cost of shipping goods across the US.
