The Coriolis Effect can be described as an apparent effect formed by a rotating frame of reference. The effect takes place when an object moves along a straight path. The Earth which rotates at a fixed speed is the moving frame of reference.

Coriolis force is defined as the perpendicular to the object’s axis. The Coriolis force acts north-south as the Earth spins on its axis from west to east and the Coriolis force is zero at the Equator.

Coriolis force appears to deflect the objects and kind of invisible force. The Coriolis force is calculated by the rate of rotation and mass of the object.

The Coriolis effect generates wind patterns that travel to the east toward the equator and to the west toward the poles near the earth’s surface. These prevailing wind patterns are accountable for moving clouds around the globe and creating weather in different regions.
