The following question refers to "Writing a Research Paper": Which of the following is a suggestion for narrowing a broad subject to a more specific subject? Google your topic and choose the first site listed. The first site is usually the best site. Develop your own ideas on the subject, as your own ideas are usually more original than those of published authors. Read your newspaper for a possible hit on the key word/subject of your choice. Search the World Wide Web for pages or sites containing key words related to your subject.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Search the World Wide Web for pages or sites containing key words related to your subject.

Explanation:

This is one of the ways in which you can narrow your subject of research. If you look online for pages or sites that contain key words related to your subject, these key words will most likely give you an indication of the kind of topics that exist in this subject. By gathering this information, you can chose to focus on a particular concept, time period or any other small category that will narrow your focus.

Answer 2
Final answer:

Narrowing a broad subject to a specific topic in a research paper involves reading widely, researching online using key words, and checking recent developments in newspapers. Avoid relying solely on personal ideas or the first website on a  search.

Explanation:

A key step in the process of writing a research paper is narrowing a broad subject down to a more specific topic. This is important to make your paper focused and manageable. To do this, you should consider reading widely on your subject first. Explore books, articles, and online sources to get familiar with the different facets of the topic. Contrastingly, Googling your topic and choosing the first site listed isn't usually the best approach, as the first listed site may not necessarily be the most thorough or accurate.

Simply relying on your own ideas can limit the scope and depth of your paper given that it does not take advantage of the wide range of information available. It's true that you can use key words related to your subject to search the World Wide Web, but make sure to use reliable sources from established publications or educational resources. Reading newspapers can also give insights into recent developments on your chosen subject, which you can further explore in your paper.

Johnny shocks Dally by telling him he wants to go back home and confess to his crime. Dally tries to change Johnny’s mind, telling him he never wants to see Johnny hardened the way prison would harden him. Johnny is adamant and points out that his own parents would not care what happens to him, but Ponyboy’s brothers care about him and want to see him. Swearing under his breath, Dally begins to drive Johnny and Ponyboy home. As they drive past the church where Ponyboy and Johnny have been staying, they see that it is on fire. Ponyboy thinks he and Johnny must have started the fire with a cigarette butt, so the boys jump out of the car to examine the blaze.

At the church, they find a group of schoolchildren on a picnic. Suddenly, one of the adult chaperones cries out that some of the children are missing, and Ponyboy hears screaming from inside the church. Acting on instinct, he and Johnny climb into the burning building through a window. At the back of the church, they find the children huddled together and terrified. As he runs through the smoky inferno, Ponyboy wonders why he is not scared. He and Johnny lift the children out of the window. Dally appears and yells that the roof is about to cave in. As they lift the last child out the window, the roof crumbles. Johnny pushes Ponyboy out of the window, and then Ponyboy hears Johnny scream. Ponyboy starts to go back in for Johnny, but Dally clubs him across the back and knocks him out.

When Ponyboy wakes, he is in an ambulance, accompanied by one of the schoolteachers, Jerry Wood. The teacher tells him that his back caught on fire and that the jacket he was wearing, which Dally lent him, saved his life. He says that Dally was burned but will probably be fine. Johnny, however, is in very bad shape—he was struck by a piece of burning timber as it fell, and may have broken his back. The man jokingly asks Ponyboy if he and Johnny are professional heroes. Ponyboy tells him that they are juvenile delinquents.

You are part of the response to a motor vehicle collision on a busy highway. There are multiple vehicles involved and multiple casualties. The police and local fire department are all part of the same response. In order to facilitate effective communication among response agencies __________.

Answers

Answer:

An interoperable communications system should be utilized.

Explanation:

According to a different source, these are the options that come with this question:

an interoperable communications system should be utilized.all agencies should utilize the same communications system.a trunking system should be used to ensure that no communications are missed.a simplex system should be used to ensure no communications are missed.

The most important factor to take into account in this situation is that there is a great variety of people involved in this disaster. Many vehicles were involved, many casualties occurred and both the police and the fire department are involved. Because of this, it is important to establish an interoperable communications system that allows all these different entities to remain in contact.

Final answer:

Effective communication among response agencies at a motor vehicle collision is facilitated by the Incident Command System (ICS). This standardized approach establishes a single chain of command and clear lines of communication. It divides responsibilities among agencies and ensures everyone knows their duties and who they report to.

Explanation:

In order to facilitate effective communication among response agencies during a multi-casualty motor vehicle collision, a concept called Incident Command System (ICS) is typically implemented. This is a standardized approach to command, control, and coordination used largely within emergency response and disaster incidents. It allows for agencies of different jurisdictions or expertise to work together effectively.

The ICS establishes a single chain of command and clear lines of communication. It is based around five primary functions: command, operations, planning, logistics, and finance/administration. In an incident like a highway collision, duties might be divided with police handling traffic control, Fire/EMS tending to the injured, and fire department handling potential hazards such as vehicle fires.

Regular updates would be provided to all parties to ensure information is accurate and timely, and regular meetings might occur to ensure clear communication. This system maintains a rigid adherence to job roles and responsibilities so that everyone involved in such an emergency situation knows who they report to and what their specific duties are.

Muhammad Ali, previously Cassius Clay, chose professional boxing as his career, becoming a renowned heavyweight champion and a symbol of racial justice and activism.

Muhammad Ali, formerly known as Cassius Clay, pursued a career in boxing. As an outspoken heavyweight boxing champion, Ali became a member of the Nation of Islam and made headlines beyond the world of sports when he refused to be drafted into the US Army, citing his religious beliefs and principles. His refusal resulted in him being stripped of his boxing titles and facing the prospect of jail, which challenged the stereotype of draft evaders during that era.

Muhammad Ali was not only famous for his boxing prowess, where he claimed to "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee," but also for his stand against the Vietnam War and his advocacy for racial justice. Interest and suspense are built during which part of the story?

Answers

Answer:

The climax! Hope that helps

Interest and suspense in a story are mainly built during the rising action, which is the middle section of a story where tension and conflict increase as the narrative progresses towards the climax. This part of the story is essential for engaging readers and developing the narrative's stakes.

Interest and suspense in a story are generally built during the rising action, which is located in the middle of the narrative structure. This phase connects the initial exposition, where characters and the setting are introduced, to the climax of the story, which is the peak of tension and conflict. During the rising action, various events unfold that create complications for the characters, escalate the conflict, and engage readers by heightening the stakes of the story's outcome.

The rising action is characterized by a series of events that increase in intensity, often presenting obstacles that the protagonist must overcome. These events propel the characters towards the climax, which is the turning point and often the most dramatic part of the narrative. In the rising action, authors weave suspense and tension into the storyline by revealing new challenges, introducing complications, and leading the protagonist closer to the ultimate confrontation or decision they must face.

Following the climax, the story moves into the falling action, where the tension decreases and the story begins to reach its resolution, ultimately leading to the denouement or the final unraveling or outcome.

The group from Moorfields Eye Hospital and University College London (UCL) has operated on a small number of young adults with Leber's congenital amaurosis, a type of inherited childhood blindness caused by a single abnormal gene. The new experimental procedure involves inserting normal copies of the faulty RPE65 gene into cells of the retina -- the light-sensitive layer of cells at the back of the eye -- using a harmless virus or vector. It will be several months before the success of the procedure can be properly assessed but medics said there had been no complications so far. The move into human testing follows 15 years of laboratory and animal experimentation, including tests on dogs whose vision was restored to the extent they could navigate a maze with ease. The idea of using gene therapy to fix diseases caused by genetic faults has long appealed to scientists, although getting the idea to work in practice has proved tricky. Some gene therapy approaches have helped patients. But one 18-year-old volunteer died in a gene therapy experiment in 1999 and two French boys cured of a rare immune disease later developed leukemia. Over 70 percent of gene therapy trials to date have been for cancer, where the process is complicated by the need to reach multiple sites in the body. The eye, by contrast, is relatively straightforward, said Andrew George of London's Imperial College. "The eye is good for gene therapy because it is a simple organ and it is easy to see what is going on.
