Suppose a1=2,an+1=12(an+2an). assuming an has a limit, find limn→∞an= . hint: let a=limn→∞. then, since an+1=12(an+2an), we have a=12(a+2a). now solve for

Answers

Looks like the sequence might be

[tex]a_{n+1}=\dfrac{a_n+\frac2{a_n}}2[/tex]

Assume that [tex]\displaystyle\lim_{n\to\infty}a_n=L[/tex]. Then taking the limit of both sides, we have

[tex]L=\dfrac{L+\frac2L}2\implies L=\pm\sqrt2[/tex]

But in order for the sequence to converge, only one of these values must be true. Since [tex]a(1)=2>0[/tex], each successive number will also be positive, so the limit must be [tex]L=\sqrt2[/tex].
Final answer:

The limit of the sequence defined by an+1=1/2*(an+2an), as n approaches infinity, is 0. This is determined by setting a = limn→∞an and solving for 'a' in the equation a=1/2*(a+2a).

Explanation:

This question is about calculating the limit of a sequence, where the sequence, denoted as {an}, is defined recursively with a given formula, an+1=1/2*(an+2an).

To calculate the limit as n approaches infinity (limn→∞an), we first suppose a is this limit. This means as n grows very large, the values of an and an+1 converge to 'a'. Hence we can write the recursive formula of the sequence in terms of 'a': a=1/2*(a+2a).

By simplifying the equation, we get: a = 1/2 * (3a). This implies that 2a = 3a, and thus 'a' must be 0.

Therefore, the limit of the sequence as n tends to infinity is 0.

Jenya has 12 bills in her wallet. She has a total of $82. If she has twice as many $5 bill as $1 bills, and two more $10 bills than $5 bills, how many of each does she have?

Answers

You can use logic to say right off the bat that you have 2 one dollar bills

so that means 4 $5 and 6 $10

check you have 12 bills and it adds up to $82

2 $1
4 $5
6 $10

Final answer:

Jenya has 2 $1 bills, 4 $5 bills, and 6 $10 bills, which all adds up to her total of $82.

Explanation:

Jenya has a combination of $1, $5, and $10 bills in her wallet adding up to $82. To find out how many of each she has, we need to set up a system of equations based on the information provided:

Let x represent the number of $1 bills.2x will then represent the number of $5 bills, as she has twice as many $5 bills as $1 bills.2x + 2 represents the number of $10 bills because she has two more $10 bills than $5 bills.We also know that the total number of bills is 12.The total amount of money is $82.

Now we can form two equations:

x + 2x + (2x + 2) = 12 (Total number of bills)1x + 2x*5 + (2x + 2)*10 = 82 (Total amount of money)

Simplifying the equations gives us:

5x + 2 = 12x + 10x + 20x + 20 = 82

Further simplification and solving for x yields:

5x = 10x = 2

This means Jenya has 2 $1 bills, 2*2 = 4 $5 bills, and 2*2 + 2 = 6 $10 bills.

A school conference room can seat a maximum of 83 people. The principal and two counselors need to meet with the school’s student athletes to discuss eligibility requirements. If each student must bring a parent with them, what is the maximum number of students that can attend each meeting?

Answers

After subtracting the principal and two counselors from the 83-person room capacity, dividing the remaining space by two shows that a maximum of 40 student-athletes can attend the meeting with their parents.

The maximum number of student-athletes that can attend a meeting in a conference room that has a capacity of 83 people while also accounting for their accompanying parents. Given that the principal and two counselors will also be in attendance, we need to subtract three from the total capacity to accommodate them, leaving us with 80 seats available. Since each student will bring a parent, we divide the remaining seats by two. Therefore, the maximum number of student-athletes that can attend each meeting is 40 students, with each accompanied by a parent.

Pete has the option of borrowing $380 for one week at an APR of 600% or borrowing the $380 for one week with a fee of $45. Which is the "better" deal?

Answers

APR = annual percentage rate.

Since Pete is borrowing the money for one week, the APR must be divided into a daily interest rate before we can figure out how much he'll pay for the loan.

There are 365 days in a year. Divide the APR by 365 to find the daily interest rate.

[tex] \frac{600}{365} = 1.643[/tex]

The daily interest rate of the loan will be 1.643%.

The following equation is used to find the total interest payment:

[tex]A = P(1+ \frac{r}{365})^{t} - P[/tex]

A represents the total amount paid in interest. P represents the amount borrowed for the loan. r represents the daily interest rate. t represents the amount of days the loan will last.

Plug in your values into the equation.

[tex]P = 380, r = 1.643, t = 7[/tex]

[tex]380(1+ \frac{1.643}{365})^{7} - 380 = 12.136[/tex]

Rounded to the nearest hundredths value, the total interest paid will be $12.14.

Compare the total amounts paid for both loans.

$12.14 < $45

The better deal is the loan with the 600% APR.

The better deal is the loan with the 600% APR.

What is interest rate?

An interest rate is the amount of interest due per period, as a proportion of the amount lent, deposited, or borrowed (called the principal sum).

Given that, Pete is borrowing the money for one week, the APR must be divided into a daily interest rate before we can figure out how much he'll pay for the loan.

There are 365 days in a year. Divide the APR by 365 to find the daily interest rate.

600/365 = 1.643

The daily interest rate of the loan will be 1.643%.

The following equation is used to find the total interest payment:

[tex]A = P(1+\frac{r}{365} )^{t} -P[/tex]

A represents the total amount paid in interest. P represents the amount borrowed for the loan. r represents the daily interest rate. t represents the amount of days the loan will last.

Plug in your values into the equation.

P = 380 r = 1.643 and t = 7

380(1+1.643/365)^7 - 380 = 12.136

Rounded to the nearest hundredths value, the total interest paid will be $12.14.

Compare the total amounts paid for both loans.

$12.14 < $45

Hence, The better deal is the loan with the 600% APR.

Using the correlation coefficient, mean test scores, and mean GPA, we can predict that a freshman with a GPA of 2.9 would have an approximate combined test score of 1260.71.

Since we know the mean combined application test score is 1225, the standard deviation is 120, the mean GPA is 2.64, and the standard deviation for GPA is 0.58, we can use this information to predict scores.

First, we will use the correlation coefficient (r), which in this case is 0.44, to calculate the slope (b) of the best-fit line. The slope (b) is calculated by dividing the product of the standard deviations by the mean test score, and then multiplying by the correlation coefficient.

b = r * (Sy / Sx)
b = 0.44 * (0.58 / 120)
b = 0.44 * 0.0048333
b ≈ 0.0021

Next, we need to find the intercept (a) of the best-fit line, which can be calculated using the means of the two variables (mean test score and mean GPA).

a = mean of GPA - b * mean of test scores
a = 2.64 - 0.0021 * 1225
a ≈ 0.10

With the slope (b) and the intercept (a), we can now predict the combined test score for a student with a GPA of 2.9.

Predicted Test Score = a + b * GPA
Predicted Test Score = 0.10 + 0.0021 * 2.9
Predicted Test Score ≈ 1260.71

Thus, for a freshman with a first-semester GPA of 2.9, the predicted combined test score would be approximately 1260.71.

 [tex]5 / sine (68) = 5 / sine (x) [/tex]
 From here, we clear the value of x.
 We have then:
 [tex]sine (x) = (5/5) * (sine (68)) [/tex]
 Rewriting we have:
 [tex]sine (x) = (1) * (sine (68)) sine (x) = sine (68) x = arcsine (sine (68)) x = 68[/tex]

c because there are 7 days in a week and Monday is one of them
It should be C). 1/7. Because there are 7 days in a week and if all the days were equally just as likely to have the solstice happen, Monday is 1 day out of a 7-day week, hence, 1/7!

Log5 wu^6/v^6
Expand each logarithm

Answers

I think this is the answer
To solve the problem shown in the figure attached, you must apply the following proccedure:

 1. You have the following logarithm:

 log5(wu^6/v^6)

 2. By the logarithms properties, you can rewrite it as below:

 log5(wu^6)-log5(v^6)
 [log5(w)+log5(u^6)]-log5(v^6)
 log5(w)+6log5(u)-6log5(v)

 3. Therefore, the answer is:log5(w)+6log5(u)-6log5(v)

In the equation 6x − 2 = −4x + 2, Spencer claims that the first step is to add 4x to both sides. Jeremiah claims that the first step is to subtract 6x from both sides. Who is correct? Explain

Answers

6x - 2 = -4x + 2
Spencer: 6x - 2 = -4x + 2       /+4x6x - 2 + 4x = -4x + 2 + 4x10x - 2 = 2
Jeremiah:6x - 2 = -4x + 2      /-6x6x - 2 - 6x = -4x + 2 - 6x-2 = -10x + 2
They both are correct. But in Jeremiah's version of solving the equation, we would have to multiply equation by -1, which we don't have to do in the Spencer's version.

Sample Response: Both are correct. As long as inverse operations and the properties of equality are used properly, both methods will generate the same solution. They both isolate the variable on one side of the equation.

WILL MARK BRAINLIEST ANSWER ASAP!!In three to five complete sentences, describe how the inhabitants of Mars felt about humans on earth. Use evidence from the text to support your answer.No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the older worlds of space as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be other men upon Mars, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twentieth century came the great disillusionment.Yet so vain is man, and so blinded by his vanity, that no writer, up to the very end of the nineteenth century, expressed any idea that intelligent life might have developed there far, or indeed at all, beyond its earthly level. Nor was it generally understood that since Mars is older than our earth, with scarcely a quarter of the superficial area and remoter from the sun, it necessarily follows that it is not only more distant from time's beginning but nearer its end.The secular cooling that must someday overtake our planet has already gone far indeed with our neighbour. Its physical condition is still largely a mystery, but we know now that even in its equatorial region the midday temperature barely approaches that of our coldest winter. Its air is much more attenuated than ours, its oceans have shrunk until they cover but a third of its surface, and as its slow seasons change huge snowcaps gather and melt about either pole and periodically inundate its temperate zones. That last stage of exhaustion, which to us is still incredibly remote, has become a present-day problem for the inhabitants of Mars. The immediate pressure of necessity has brightened their intellects, enlarged their powers, and hardened their hearts. And looking across space with instruments, and intelligences such as we have scarcely dreamed of, they see, at its nearest distance only 35,000,000 of miles sunward of them, a morning star of hope, our own warmer planet, green with vegetation and grey with water, with a cloudy atmosphere eloquent of fertility, with glimpses through its drifting cloud wisps of broad stretches of populous country and narrow, navy-crowded seas.And we men, the creatures who inhabit this earth, must be to them at least as alien and lowly as are the monkeys and lemurs to us. The intellectual side of man already admits that life is an incessant struggle for existence, and it would seem that this too is the belief of the minds upon Mars. Their world is far gone in its cooling and this world is still crowded with life, but crowded only with what they regard as inferior animals. To carry warfare sunward is, indeed, their only escape from the destruction that, generation after generation, creeps upon them. At a carnival, Brian bought 9 packs of 16 tickets each.
