What type of government did Anti-Federalists favor? A. Weak state governments B. Stronger state governments C. Strong national constitution D. Stronger national government

Answers

Answer 1

The Anti-Federalists favored stronger state governments.

Further Explanation:

The Anti-Federalists were a political faction (group) that formed during the Constitutional Convention. Originally the goal of this convention was to fix America's first constitution, the Articles of Confederation. However, after delegates realized that this would be near impossible, the goal was to create a new US Constitution. One of the biggest debates at this convention revolved around whether or not the new constitution would have a strong or weak central government.,

Anti-Federalists favored a weak central government and stronger state governments. Many individuals from this group, like Thomas Jefferson, wanted stronger state governments due to their fear of a strong central government becoming tyrannical. These fears were rooted in logic, as one of the most significant factors in America' decision to declare independence was a central government that abused their power.

Federalists, on the other hand, wanted a strong federal government. This is due to the fact that America failed miserably under the Articles of Confederation (which had a weak central government). Ultimately, these sides would develop compromises that helped to shape the creation of the US Constitution we still use today.

Anti-Federalists supported representative, as opposed to direct, democracy, weaker state governments, a strong central government, indirect election of government officials, and longer-term restrictions for officeholders. Option (a) is correct.

Since they associated British oppression with strong governments, many Anti-Federalists favored a limited central authority. Others wished to promote democracy and feared that the wealthy would control a powerful government. They believed that the new federal government was receiving an excessive amount of power from the states.

The national power grab was opposed by the Anti-Federalists. They supported localized, constrained national authority, similar to that provided by the Articles of Confederation.

Why was germany willing to accept hitler as a dictator and to use the jews as scapegoats?

Answers

Final answer:

Germany was gripped by economic and social crisis after WWI and the Great Depression, leading many to support Hitler's promises of revival and scapegoating of Jews. A history of anti-Semitism and Nazi propaganda paved the way for Hitler's dictatorship and the systemic persecution and murder of Jews and other 'undesirable' groups. Public dissatisfaction and the desire to overturn post-WWI humiliation also contributed to public support for Hitler.

Explanation:

Germany was in a state of economic and social turmoil following World War I and the Great Depression. Hitler and the Nazis capitalized on the feelings of resentment and national humiliation due to the Treaty of Versailles. They appealed to nationalist sentiments and the desire for a return to former glory. The Jews, being perceivably successful in business and finance, were an easy target for scapegoating, especially since they were seen by many as not fully loyal to the nation but part of a separate international community. The scapegoating was based on a deep-rooted European history of anti-Semitism and was magnified by Nazi propaganda which portrayed Jews as a foreign and conspiratorial threat to Germany.

Hitler's ascension to power was further facilitated by the dire economic conditions, high unemployment rates, and the growth of the Nazi party as a political force. In January 1933, pressured by industrialists and the political establishment, President Paul von Hindenburg appointed Hitler as chancellor. Using bully-like tactics and promises of economic and national revival, by 1933, Hitler had succeeded in removing democratic mechanisms and establishing himself as a dictator with complete control over the German government.

The Holocaust was an extreme result of these policies, with millions of Jews, along with other minorities and political dissidents, systematically murdered by the Nazi regime. The regime promoted a narrative of German supremacy and the elimination of those they deemed 'subhuman' or threats to the purity and success of the German nation.

The desire to overturn the consequences of the Versailles Treaty and rebuild a powerful Germany made many citizens receptive to Hitler's message, leading them to support or tolerate the establishment of a totalitarian regime that targeted Jews and other minorities, who were blamed for Germany's economic and social problems.

Nativists in the 1840s believed that immigrants

Answers

Nativists in the 1840s believed that immigrants were a threat to American society and worried that they would try to change American values and norms. Along with this, many nativists were worried about immigrants taking over their jobs, due to the fact that most of them would work for less pay.

This group especially targeted anyone whose descendants were not traced back to the citizens of the original thirteen American colonies. This ultimately resulted in the creation of the American Party and the call for more strict immigration laws.
Final answer:

Nativists in the 1840s were largely fearful and suspicious of the diversification of American society as a result of increasing immigration, particularly from southern and eastern Europe. They favored established, predominantly Protestant and Anglo-Saxon cultures over new immigrant cultures, leading to heightened restrictions on immigration.

Explanation:

In the 1840s, Nativists held beliefs that were primarily centered around a fear of the growing diversity within the United States resulting from increasing immigration. Many of these immigrants were coming from various regions of Europe, bringing with them their different languages, cultures, and religions. These new cultural forces clashed with the Nativists' preference for the established, predominantly Protestant, Anglo-Saxon American culture. Nativists prized White Americans with more established family ties in the U.S. over immigrants and heavily favored local customs over the alien influences brought in by immigrants.

The novelties introduced by immigrants, in conjunction with popular events such as the anarchist assassinations of foreign leaders and the Bolshevik Revolution, stoked nativist fears of a foreign or communist threat. Nativists also held disapproval for the Roman Catholic population, which surged with the arrival of the Irish and Germans. Policies reflecting these nativist attitudes, like the Johnson-Reed Act of 1924 and the Emergency Immigration Act of 1921, introduced limitations on immigration, especially targeting southern and eastern Europeans.

As a result of this sentiment, there was significant opposition to immigrants from such nativist-centered political forces as the American or Know-Nothing Party. The party was particularly against the immigration of Irish Catholics and Chinese laborers, who they believed were incapable of fully assimilating into American society.

why did supply-side economics appeal to conservatives

Answers

Supply Side Economics is a theory that states that economic prosperity can be best achieved by lowering taxes, promoting private businesses and minimal government intervention.

All the above appealed to conservatives since they want deregulation of industries, freer and open markets, they wanted to end labor unions and promote Private businesses, both small and large.

One of the most popular and arguably successful proponents of supply-side economics of President Ronald Regan who lowered taxes which eventually lead to more investments and job creation.

Supply-side economics appealed to conservatives because it promised economic growth spurred by lower tax rates, which would encourage investment and production. This approach was associated with Reaganomics and was later embraced by President George W. Bush.

Supply-side economics appealed to conservatives for several reasons. Central to its appeal was the belief that reducing tax rates for individuals and corporations would lead to increased investment, production, and economic growth.

This theory was contrary to the Keynesian focus on stimulating consumer demand. Supply-siders argued that lower taxes would lead to more private investment and job creation, with a 'trickle-down' effect to lower-income groups through higher wages and employment opportunities. They believed such tax cuts could potentially increase the government's tax revenue as a result of the expanded economic activity, despite lower tax rates, a theory often represented by the Laffer Curve.

Supply-side economics was closely associated with President Reaganomics, with President Reagan advocating for tax cuts based on their anticipated supply-side effects. The policies aimed to stimulate not just the aggregate demand but also the supply factors in the economy, leading to reduced inflation and accelerated economic growth. President George W. Bush further strengthened the supply-side doctrine within the Republican Party, suggesting that tax cuts for the wealthy would stimulate further investment and create jobs.

By the first decade of the twentieth century, the world around you has been transformed thoroughly. Now comes an important event in your life. It may not make it into the history books or the newspapers, but it’s all your family members can talk about…the birth of your first great granddaughter in 1914! You’ve lived through a lot of changes, and you begin to wonder about how the world might be transformed during her lifetime. After all, your granddaughter might well live until the year 2000! You sit down to write a letter to your newborn granddaughter—something she can read in the years and decades ahead. Reflecting on the types of changes that have taken place in your lifetime, you decide to write about what you think will happen in the century ahead. Your letter will address possible changes in the four categories you looked at in the previous activity: political/military, cultural, science/technology, and social/economic. In addition, you’ll want to write about these key points:

A: Ways in which life might improve in the future.
B: Good things from the previous century that might be lost as times change.
C: How your granddaughter should view change, what she should resist and what she should embrace.

Dear Granddaughter

I don't know if I would be alive when you read this letter, but I hope whenever you do get a chance to read this, you are in the best of health and in a happy place in life.

For everyone who lives, the world they live in is all the matters. However, soon when you look back at life, you understand that your place in the bigger picture is very small.
Humans come and go, but the world continues to do grow and move on. Each one of us, leave a mark on this world in some way or the other and it surely is a beautiful thing.

I was born in 1830, a time when believe it or not, there was no electricity, no telephones, radios, movies or even airplanes!

Now you might think I lived in a prehistoric place but we didn't look at it like that. In my own lifetime, man has made numerous strides and I am pretty sure you will see a lot of things in your life.

They say man might one day set foot on the moon. I am not sure if I would be able to see if but I sure hope you are able to! They say, in a few years, we might have small movie boxes in every home, where people would be able to watch films in their living rooms, never needing to go to a theater!
I am sure medical science will improve too in your lifetime, and you will have a far healthier life than I did.

However, I am sure, some things from my time will be missed. For example, my generation used to sleep early and wake up early. Since all we had were candles, there was no real entertainment at night and we just slept!

Also, communication was slow, we did not have telephones and the only real way of staying in touch was through mail.  For me, it kinda meant all relationships were special!

However, remember, change, is usually and mostly good. Embrace change. There are numerous opportunities that will come your way, so never be afraid and live a happy, fulfilling life!

I wish you all the best my deal girl!
