Answer 1
The excerpt that tells the White family's uncertainty on the Major's story would be when Mr. White said:
"If the tale about the monkey's paw is not more truthful than those he has been telling us," said Herbert, as the door closed behind their guest, just in time to catch the last train, "we shan't make much out of it." This is because they are not sure what is true about the information that a stranger told them in the train.

Answer 2

The four parts of the above excerpt from W. W. Jacobs's "The Monkey's Paw" which shows that the White family doubts the Major's story are:

1.) "Sounds like the 'Arabian Nights,'” said Mrs. White, as she rose and began to set the supper. "Don't you think you might wish for four pairs of hands for me."

2.) "If the tale about the monkey's paw is not more truthful than those he has been telling us," said Herbert, as the door closed behind their guest, just in time to catch the last train, "we shan't make much out of it."

3.) "Likely," said Herbert, with pretended horror. "Why, we're going to be rich, and famous and happy. Wish to be an emperor, father, to begin with; then you can't be henpecked."

4.) Mr. White took the paw from his pocket and eyed it dubiously. "I don't know what to wish for, and that's a fact," he said, slowly. "It seems to me I've got all I want."

When the Major told the story about the Monkey's paw to the White Family they didn't trust the story. It was for them a tale which can never happen in real life. The conversation between Mr. and Mrs. White regarding the Monkey's paw had a humorous approach. Their son Herbert was also excited to test the reality of the paw and become rich by making a wish from it.

"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Source: Frost, Robert. I needtowrite a binary opposition on the color purple. What is a binary opposition?

Answers

A binary opposition is a pair of related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning.
Final answer:

A binary opposition is a concept in structuralism representing paired opposites. For the color purple, its binary opposition could be yellow or yellow-green based on opponent-process theory or cultural value associations.

Explanation:

A binary opposition is a pair of related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning. It is a foundational concept in structuralism, a theory of sociology, anthropology, and linguistics. In myths, literature, and other narratives, binary oppositions are used to explore and represent contrasting ideas such as good versus evil or light versus dark. When analyzing the color purple, one might consider its binary opposition to be yellow, as these colors can be seen as opposites within the framework of the opponent-process theory of color vision. According to this theory, colors are coded in pairs, such as black-white, yellow-blue, and green-red, but purple does not have a direct opponent in this scheme. Instead, the color purple can be opposed to colors like yellow or yellow-green due to cultural color progressions that indicate its relative importance or rarity.

Looking at cultural color systems, such as those research by Berlin and Kay, we might explore the binary opposition by considering the sociocultural significance of purple, often associated with royalty and luxury, in contrast to other colors lower in the hierarchy of color terms. In this cultural understanding, the opposition is not direct in terms of color perception but can be found in the cultural values associated with purple versus more commonly valued colors such as green or yellow.

Which satirical element is Wilde using in "I'm not young enough to know everything"
A) hyperbole
B)understatement
C)cultural values
D)irony

Answers

the answer is d, irony

Answer:

D) irony

Explanation:

Irony refers to a rhetorical device in which what appears to be the case differs radically from what is actually the case. The device relies on the contrast between what is expected and what actually happens. In this case, Wilde claims that an age group is particularly knowledgeable. We would tend to assume that the age group he refers to is old people, as we generally assume that knowledge comes with experience. Instead, Wilde tells us that it is young people who know everything. Because the statement is unexpected, it can be considered an example of irony.

Option C

Life is depressing without love

The artist starts the sonnet with the words The night has a thousand eyes implying that the night is brimming with stars which continue to squint like eyes.

In any case, as indicated by the artist, the light of the brilliant world bites the dust with the withering sun, for example as the sun sets bites the dust, the entire world gets dim and loses its brilliance.

The lines The brain has a thousand eyes, and the heart however one. This addresses how you could be contemplating a wide range of things at the same time while your heart has just your genuine affection in its considerations.

He partook in the late evening turning upward and feeling like a thousand eyes were thinking back keeping an eye out for him. The social setting of the sonnet is found in the aggravation that we feel when we lose somebody dear to our souls.

The subject of the sonnet is that the aggravation later love closes resembles the murkiness later the day closes.

As per the writer, the psyche has a thousand eyes and the heart yet one implying that the brain keeps busy with a wide range of thoughts that continue coming flickering to him.

It continues to store all sort of data that comes in it. It has plentiful capacities to perform. Notwithstanding, the heart has only one eye for example the adoration.

In the poem “The Song of English” written by Rudyard Kipling, the underlined theme is that English people are chosen from God (“He hath made the deep as dry, He hath smote for us a pathway to the ends of all the Earth!”) as long as they abide His Law, which is why he states that their heritage is admirable (“O goodly is our heritage! (Humble ye, my people, and be fearful in your mirth!) For the Lord our God Most High”). But, English people sinned, led by rulers who strayed out of righteous path. Answers

I am assuming your answer is  A.

coherence is pertaining to logic order.

The correct answer is A. Ideas follow a logical order and connect to each other clearly

Explanation:

In writing, the word "coherence" refers to the connection between clauses, sentences, and ideas in a text in which all elements are organized in a logical way, connected between each other and these developed effectively the main idea of a text. This implies coherence mainly refers to the logical organization and connection between the elements or units of a text and therefore, if you are editing a composition and you want to focus on coherence you should mainly check all ideas follow a logical order and connect to each other clearly rather than checking grammar, sentence length or the order of paragraphs, because coherence  does not deal with these elements but with the logical connection between elements in a text and the way these developed the main idea.
