Write a letter to the framers of the constitution. exlplain what you know about the Bill of Rights today in order to justify why the Bill of Rights is a nessesery set of admendments to the constitution(2 paragraphs).

Answers

Answer 1
The Bill of Rights consists of the first ten amendments of the constitution. These amendments help to protect civil liberties (aka freedoms) for citizens and prevents a tyrannical government structure. The interpretation of these amendments (what they actually mean) is constantly changing today. One thing that all of the original ten amendments have in common is the fact that they were purposely implemented based on past experience.

For example, the freedom of religion is a freedom that many people came to this country for when colonization began. This is still a reason people come to America today, as our structure provides for the freedom to practice the religion of your choice.

Along with this, the framers put in other freedoms like the right to assemble. This concept was based on their organization/meetings held prior to declaring independence from Great Britain.

All of these amendments are still needed today to ensure that America remains a government by the people and for the people.

The most significant outcome of the Crusades was the increased trade and exchange of ideas between Europe and Asia. This provided a major boost to Europe's economy and culture due to the introduction of new goods and knowledge.

Explanation:

The most important result of the Crusades was not increased power for European kings or popes, nor was it that Muslims and Christians gained respect for one another. Instead, one of the most significant outcomes was that trade and exchange of ideas between Europe and Asia increased.

The Crusades, which were religious wars during the Middle Ages, led to greater contact and interaction between Europe and the Middle East. This opened up new trade routes and led to an exchange of ideas, goods, and technologies between the two regions, providing a major boost to the economy and culture of Europe. The _______ was an international organization designed to prevent war that was set up after World War I. A. Triple Entente End of exam B. League of Nations C. Peace Conference D. United Nations

Answers

The correct answer is B: The League of Nations was an international organization designed to prevent war that was set up after World War I. WWI was named the "Great War" and "The war to end all wars"; never before had Europeans seen such scale of destruction. After the war the League of Nations was founded with the goal of preventing a new world war. However, it did not suceed. It lacked enforcement mechanisms, and depended on the will of the victors of WWI to enforce its resolutions. The U.S. never joined it officially, despite the fact that U.S. Presidente Woodrow Wilson was one of its main backers (this earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919), and the Soviet Union was only briefly part of it; the absence of two of the most powerful states weakened its legitimacy. After failing to prevent World War II, it was dissolved in 1946, giving way to the United Nations, the international organization presently charged with keeping peace.

Answer:

B. League of Nations

Explanation:

The League of Nations was an organization that was set up after World War I in order to prevent war. The purpose of the League of Nations was to maintain world peace through the cooperation and association of nations. The League of Nations is considered the most direct predecessor of the United Nations. Despite its ambitious purpose, the League of Nations was unsuccessful, as it was unable to prevent World War II.

2.The cover-up involved criminal activities and obstruction of justice by the President of the United States--The Watergate Scandal showed Nixon's involvement in stealing information from the Democratic headquarters showing interference in the election.

Evidence of Nixon's wrongdoing was enough for him to resign as president and the vice president to resign as well. He avoided a trial which would have removed him from office. The scandal made Americans question the honesty of the government.

A break-in at the Watergate office building turn into a major political scandal because the cover-up involved criminal activities and obstruction of justice by the President of the United States. The correct option is 2.

What was the significance of the Watergate building?

Built between 1963 and 1971, the Watergate was a popular residence for members of Congress and political appointees to the executive branch. Since the 1980s, the complex has been sold on several occasions.

The scandal arose as a result of the Nixon administration's ongoing efforts to conceal its involvement in the June 17, 1972, break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

how was the manufacturing industry in texas affected by geographic location?

The progress of the manufacturing industries in Texas has been that of the emblematic borderline region with its colonial economy in a slow shift from pastoral toward established economic status. The Texas region has had the superiority of rich and assorted natural resources. The geographic position inspiring the growth of population, and the expanding of transportation facilities. Consumption of these properties has come, primarily, by exporting of raw materials but progressively by manufacture in Texas into consumer’s products and semi-processed, as rail lines have been placing and deep-water ports dug, while the tide of American migration moved westward. Before the 1900 Texas manufacturing industries were of either the type that had inevitably come to the source of raw materials, such as brick manufacturing, stone cutting, lumbering, or the type that produce for the instant requests of a local market, as the milling of cornmeal and flour and the manufacture of saddlery and harness. Answers

The first scientist to challenge the concept of race was Richard Lewontin.

Lewontin was an American evolutionary biologist and geneticist who was part of a group of researchers in the 1960s who argued that race has little basis from the perspective of biological science. Lewontin's arguments meant that all humans are part of the same biological species, and even when variations between different populations exist, they are far fewer than the similarities among all human populations.

He also argued that while we may assume visible physical traits can be correlated to certain geographic regions, the true cause of this phenomenon arises from natural selection rather than differences in gene frequency. This challenging concept fundamentally altered the way scientists, as well as society as a whole, viewed race.

How does the "Elastic clause" make it easier for our government to function?

Answers

The answer is in the 'necessary and proper clause' of the U.S. Constitution, better known as the 'elastic clause,' which allows Congress to make laws it needs to carry out its own powers.

The "Elastic Clause" allows government to do what is seen as necessary in order to carry out the priorities of nation, even if that means an action not specifically enumerated by the Constitution.

Explanation:

Sometimes referred to as the "Elastic Clause," the "necessary and proper" clause of the United States Constitution grants Congress  implied powers beyond the specifically stated ones in the Constitution..  After enumerating a number of the powers of Congress, including borrowing money, coining money, regulating commerce, etc, Section 8 of Article I of the Constitution closes by saying Congress shall have power "to make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof."  That's a quite broad and "elastic" statement, which goes beyond specifically delegated powers and gives Congress additional implied powers.

An example of the implementation of such implied powers in the Constitution occurred when Alexander Hamilton, as our nation's first Secretary of the Treasury, argued in favor of establishing a national bank.  Hamilton believed that anything that is not strictly forbidden in the Constitution is allowable.  A national bank was not strictly listed as something Congress could establish, but there was nothing in the Constitution to prohibit it.  And the "necessary and proper" clause gave leeway to create it, by the implied powers given to Congress.

The synchronization mechanism.

I believe that's the term you're looking for.  The synchronization gear was also known as a gun synchronizer, or sometimes has been referred to as an "interrupter," although that term doesn't really describe it's function accurately.  Essentially, the mechanism synchronized the timing of the airplane propeller and the firing speed of the gun so that the bullets would be flying through the space between the propeller blades as they spun.

The answer is "interrupter". You will get a faster answer if you include the answers in your test next time.

What did President Truman threaten to do to striking miners and railroad workers?

a. fire them

c. draft them into the army

b. send them to jail

d. send them to labor camps

Answers

draft them to the army
Hey there Jenny!

President Truman ordered both groups back to work during a cooling off period. He then invited both sides (union and management) to the White House to discuss the situation. After several fruitless meetings, Truman, who was frustrated by the lack of progress with the talks, ordered both sides to stay at the White House until they came to an agreement. Much pressure from White House officials eventually forced the unions and management to agree to a settlement.Hours before the strike organized by the United Steelworkers of America was set to begin on April 9, 1952, President Truman nationalized the steel industry.  The President did this, in part, to keep defense production from collapsing while American troops were fighting in Korea.

After the Supreme Court ruled the President had acted unconstitutionally in seizing the mills, Truman planned to invoke Section 18 of the Selective Service Act in order to legally take control of the mills and force steel workers back to their machines.

When this did not result in an end to the strike, and with defense production crippled, Truman ordered steelmakers and the union to meet at the White House to reach an agreement.

On July 24, 1952 a settlement at the White House was reached and the 53-day strike by the steelworkers ended.

Before the steelworkers in 1952, there were the miners in 1946.

When coal miners went out on strike in April, Truman seized the mines and ordered the miners back to work.  After coal companies rejected a government settlement, the miners struck again.

This time the mining companies agreed to most of the miners' demands.  The miners returned to their pits in December, but not before their union received a large fine for ignoring a court order not to strike.

Though Truman threatened to draft strikers into the military several times during his presidency, he also vetoed (unsuccessfully) the Taft-Hartley Act, which restricted the power of labor unions.

The president can influence the supreme court by

Answers

The president has some influence over the supreme court, but only to an extent. As previously stated he nominates people to the supreme court, but this in turn is checked by the legislative function in the government so his influence is small here if anything....

The president can influence the Supreme Court through nominations, the involvement of the Solicitor General, submission of amicus curiae briefs, and public statements, shaping the judiciary long-term.

The president can influence the Supreme Court by several means, ensuring their lasting impact on the judiciary:

Nominations: The president nominates justices to the Supreme Court, subject to Senate approval. These appointments can shape the Court’s decisions for decades, given the lifetime tenure of justices.Solicitor General's involvement: The Solicitor General, representing the federal government, can influence the Court by presenting arguments and perspectives on cases.Amicus curiae briefs: The president can direct the submission of "friend of the court" briefs in cases where the government is not a party, thereby swaying judicial opinions through legal arguments.Public statements and pressure: Presidents may publicly criticize or support specific decisions, potentially influencing public opinion and judicial perspectives.

For instance, President Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1937 "court-packing scheme" aimed to add more justices aligned with his views, though it was never enacted.
