How many milliliters of a 0.7% stock solution are required to make 2 l of 0.2% solution? how many ml of solvent will be required to carry out the dilution?

Answers

1. To solve this question, you need to equalize the mass of solute for both solution. The calculation would be:
mass of solute= volume*concentration

mass1=mass2
volume1 * concentration1 = volume2 * concentration2
volume1 * 0.7%= 2L *(1000ml/L) * 0.2%
volume1 = 2000ml * (0.2%/0.7%)
volume1= 571.429 ml

2. Since you already have the volume of stock needed, you just need to subtract it from the total solution volume to count the number of solvents needed.
new solution volume= stock volume + diluting solvent volume
2L * 2000ml/L =  571.429ml + diluting solvent volume
diluting solvent volume= 2000ml- 571.429 ml= 1428.571ml

Answer:

The model is incorrect because the first main energy level can only have two electrons and it shows five.

The electrons should be arranged in two concentric circles, each for one main energy level: 2 electrons must be on the inner circle (first energy level) and 3 electrons on the outer circle (second main energy level).

Explanation:

This model is used to indicate the electrons according to the main energy level (main quantum number).

The main energy levels or quantum numbers anre 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, .....

And these are the number of electrons that can be on each of those energy levels:

Main quantum number          maximim number of electrons

1                                                   2
2                                                   8
3                                                 18
4                                                 32

The atom shown has  five electrons. Accorgin with the table above, only two of those electrons may be in the first main energy level, the other three go on the second level.

Because electrons move freely in metals, metals are____

Answers

They are conductors because since they move freely around in metals it creates energy which will act as a conductor

The metals are defined as those substances which can form metallic bonds. Iron, copper, etc. are metals. Because electrons move freely in metals, metals are conductors of heat and electricity.

What is a metal?

The metals are known as those substances which can donate electrons. They are electropositive in nature. An opaque, hard, shiny substances which can conduct heat and electricity due to the presence of free electrons are metals. All metals are malleable and ductile.

The metals contain one or two valence electrons. In order to attain stability they transfer the electrons. When these valence electrons are transferred rapidly to form a compound, there is a continuous flow of electrons in the lattice of compound.

Thus free electrons in metals are obtained due to their ability to transfer valence electrons and to achieve electrical neutrality.

Thus metals are conductors of heat and electricity.

C. move only toward the equator as a result.
D. keep this energy concentrated in one region of the globe.

Answers

B. help to distribute this energy by warming other regions of the globe.

Welcome.

Areas near the equator receive the greatest amount of energy from the Sun because Ocean currents help in distributing this energy by warming up other regions of the globe. Thus, the correct option is B.

What is the effect of Ocean currents?

Ocean currents including the ocean conveyor belt play an important role in the determination of how the ocean distributes heat energy throughout the planet Earth, thereby regulating and stabilizing the climate patterns in different regions of the planet.

Warm current moves away from the equator towards the poles whereas the cold currents concurrently move towards the equator. This process of movement of current waves is known as thermohaline circulation. The cold currents due to their higher density move in the great depth of the oceans while the warmer currents are on the surface due to their relatively lower density.

Therefore, the correct option is B.

2. Mole fraction (X)

3. Molality (m)

4. Parts per million (ppm)

5. Mass percent ((w/w) %)

6. Volume percent ((v/v) %)

Molarity is one of the concentration terms used very often in solutions. It is defined as moles of solute present in one litre of solution. The formula to calculate molarity of solution is as follows:

[tex]{\text{Molarity of solution}} = \dfrac{{{\text{Moles }}\left( {{\text{mol}}} \right){\text{of solute}}}}{{{\text{Volume }}\left( {\text{L}} \right){\text{ of solution}}}}[/tex]                                     …… (1)

Number of moles of HF after addition of HCl can be calculated as follows:

[tex]\begin{aligned}{\text{Moles of HF}} &= 0.00315{\text{ mol}} + 0.00005{\text{ mol}} \\&= {\text{0}}{\text{.0032 mol}} \\\end{galigned}[/tex]

The total volume of solution is calculated as follows:

[tex]\begin{aligned}{\text{Total volume of solution}} &= {\text{5}}{\text{.0 mL}} + 25.0{\text{ mL}} \\&={\text{30}}{\text{.0 mL}} \\\end{aligned}[/tex]

Substitute 0.0032 mol for the moles of solute and 30.0 mL for volume of solution in equation (1) to calculate the concentration or molarity of HF solution.

[tex]\begin{aligned}{\text{Molarity of solution}} &= \left( {\frac{{{\text{0}}{\text{.0032 mol}}}}{{{\text{30}}{\text{.0 mL}}}}} \right)\left( {\frac{{1{\text{ mL}}}}{{{{10}^{ - 3}}{\text{ L}}}}} \right) \\&= 0.107{\text{ M}} \\\end{aligned}[/tex]

How do you find molality and molarity?

Answers

Molality is equal to the moles of solute divided by the kilograms of solvent.
Molarity is equal to the moles of solute divided by liters of solution.
Final answer:

To calculate molality, divide the moles of solute by the kilograms of solvent. To calculate molarity, divide the moles of solute by the liters of solution. Consider the dissociation of ionic solutes when assessing boiling point elevation and freezing point depression.

Explanation:

To find the molality of a solution, you can calculate it using the number of moles of solute and the mass of the solvent in kilograms. Molality (m) is defined as the number of moles of solute per kilogram of solvent, and the equation is: m = moles of solute / kilograms of solvent.

To find the molarity of a solution, you need to know the number of moles of solute and the volume of the solution in liters. The molarity (M) is the number of moles of solute per liter of solution, and the equation is: M = moles of solute / liters of solution.

When comparing different solutions, the molality can be used to determine the effect on boiling point and freezing point. If the solute is ionic, you should consider the number of particles it dissociates into, as this affects the total concentration of particles in solution. For example, in boiling point elevation and freezing point depression calculations, you can use the relevant equations to find the molality of a solution and from there find other properties like the molar mass of the solute.

The answer depends on the rate law.

1) If the rate law is first order on H2, then:

r = K [H2] / A

Since K is a constant and you are not varying A, then the rate will double if [H2] doubles.

2) If the rate law is second order on H2, then:

r = [H2]^2 / A

Again, since K is a constant and you are no varying A, then the rate will quadruple if [H2] is doubled because:

( 2 * [H2] )^2 = 4 [H2]^2

3) If the rate law is of zero order on H2, then the rate will remain the same, because the rate does not depend of the concentration of H2.

and when Kw = 1 X 10^-14 and Ka = 1.8 X 10^-5 and Kb = Kw/Ka so:
Kw/Ka = [CH2COOH][OH]/[CH3COO]
(1x10^-14/1.8x10^-5) = X^2 / (0.25-X)
5.6x10^-10 = X^2/(0.25-X)
1.12 - (5.6x10^-10 X) = X^2
∴X = 1.2x10^-5 ∴[OH-] = 1.2x10^-5 M
when POH = - ㏒[OH-]
         POH = -㏒(1.2x10^-5) = 4.9

and when POH + PH = 14
∴PH = 14- POH = 14 - 4.9 = 9.1
