Post 1: The Brooklyn Dodgers debuted in Brooklyn, New York, in 1890. Fans called them the “Trolley Dodgers” because of the numerous trolley cars that moved across Brooklyn’s streets at the time. Soon the name became simply “The Dodgers.” The Dodgers continued to be a Brooklyn club until the 1950s, when the club moved west.

Post 2: 1947 was a year to remember! Yep, that’s when Jackie Robinson signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The pressure was enormous. The abuse constant. Yet Robinson rose above it all. He outplayed everyone. 125 runs. 29 stolen bases. And that was only in his first year.

What do you understand by Education?

Education is the discipline concerned with methods of teaching and learning in schools or school-like settings, as opposed to various nonformal and informal socialization methods.

Sport contributes to the development of character. Sporting activities promote a healthy lifestyle. Physical education helps to develop skills that will be useful later in life. Schools can punish students who do not participate in class by assigning them additional PE lessons.

Physical education classes teach students the importance of physical health and social skills that they will need as adults. PE has been shown to improve test scores and concentration. If PE is optional, most students would rather take a class online or something less beneficial.

“Los Angeles is set down low, surrounded by mountain ranges making it highly susceptible to high ozone levels.” a) mountain ranges , high zone b) surrounded, highly susceptible c) surrounded, high zone d) highly susceptible, high zone

Answers

Answer:

D)

Explanation:

Negative connotation means that the word/phrase/sentence, etc. gives a bad feeling of what is going on. In this case, "highly susceptible" is generally used in describing something that is very likely to gain a negative effect or trait. While having some ozone is good in deflecting harmful UV rays, having a high ozone would affect many parts of the human body, causing a person to suffer. These two are what is given to make the sentence have a negative feel to it.

What does Anderson's describing the young man as "a leaf blown by the wind through the streets of his village, "a thing blown the winds," and "a thing destined like corn to wilt in the sun" suggest?

the young man's love of nature

the young man's foolish trust in others

the young man's ultimate powerlessness

the young man's basic decency and goodness

Answers

Answer:

The young man's ultimate powerlessness

Explanation:

Anderson's describing the young man as "a leaf blown by the wind through the streets of his village, "a thing blown the winds," and "a thing destined like corn to wilt in the sun" suggest the young man's ultimate powerlessness.

This clearly means that as the fallen rusted leaves of trees are helpless and powerless against the winds of the village and they are blown in whatever direction the wind takes them without having a say, the young man is the same. He has no power and no say.

In what ways did the philosophies of rationalism contribute to American independence?

Answers

Answer:a

Explanation:

Final answer:

Rationalism and Enlightenment ideas of natural rights, individual liberty, and the social contract theory, especially from John Locke, Voltaire, and Montesquieu, fostered the principles that guided the American colonies to declare independence and form a unique, democratic government structure.

Explanation:Contributions of Rationalism to American Independence

The philosophies of rationalism greatly contributed to American independence by providing the intellectual foundation for the emergence of principles such as individual liberty, natural rights, and self-government. Rationalism, emphasized during the Enlightenment, holds that knowledge comes through logic rather than sensory experience. This belief informed the American revolutionaries, who were deeply influenced by Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke, who argued for the natural rights to life, liberty, and property.

Locke's theory of government being a social contract between rulers and the governed directly influenced the Declaration of Independence and the creation of a political system designed to protect individual rights. The founding fathers also drew on the works of other philosophers such as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Montesquieu. For example, Rousseau's concept of the “general will” and Montesquieu's advocacy for a separation of powers were instrumental in shaping America's democratic government structure. These Enlightenment principles effectively guided the American revolutionaries to declare independence from Britain and form a government that reflected the will and the rights of the people.

During the Revolutionary War, American leaders recognized the need for a cohesive political framework to unite the states and address issues arising under British rule. The war provided an opportunity to implement the ideologies of the Enlightenment philosophers into practical governance, leading to the innovative establishment of the United States of America with a government that showcased these Enlightened philosophes.

I have an essay about Komodo Dragons due. In the first paragraph, I need to explain why deer on Komodo island is decreasing and what it causes. In my second paragraph, I need to say how it's affecting the villagers (it's affecting the villagers because the dragons come and eat the townpeople's goats.) In my last body paragraph, I need to explain how the problem can be solved.

Answers

Answer:

A year ago I wrote this same type of essay, I'm going to give you pointers.

Explanation:

1: The deer population on Komodo island is decreasing due to poachers. The effect of the decreasing Deer Population means less food for the Dragons

2: The villagers are currently facing problems with the Komodo dragons both of their livestock being attacked and their own children being attacked as well. In fact a villager commented: "Today is a goat, tomorrow is a child".

3: These problems can be easily fixed. The government can help stop poaching on deers. Secondly, a petition for the villagers to allow feeding the Komodo to stop them from going after their livestock and children has been requested. Lastly, a dragon-proof fence has also been requested by the villagers but has been denied by the Nature Conservancy.

Hope this helped!

Ok, so i would do:

Deer on Komodo island are decreasing because of increased hunting of the deer, komodo dragons hunting them, and decrease in water supplies. This can be a problem because with less deer for the Komodo Dragons to eat, the more the Dragons will eat villagers, goats, and bison. This will cause ecosystem in-balance and economic collapse.

This will effect the villagers the most because now they will have massive man eating lizards that are hungry roaming around, and they will have to find better ways of protecting themselves and their families. The villagers will then either begin to attack and kill the Komodos or they will be forced out of their village. Neither are good because then one way or another a part of the ecosystem will be lost.

This could be solved in three ways: One, the deer population could be protected on the island of Komodo, until the deer population can spring back. Or two, a certain amount of deer could be humanly captured and protected, bred, then released again so that you could have a guaranteed amount of population increase. And three, you could put a restriction on the number of deer hunted in a day, week and month along with a size restriction. All of these we've done in the U.S, but non have been done in Komodo.

Hope this helps, all you have to do is come up with an introduction, hook/Thesis statement, Restate the thesis, and 2 to 3 concluding sentences, Enjoy!!

Read the passage from "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."

"Not so fast! You're driving too fast!" said Mrs. Mitty. "What are you driving so fast for?"

"Hmm?" said Walter Mitty. He looked at his wife, in the seat beside him, with shocked astonishment.

What is the effect of the dialogue in the excerpt?

It suggests that Mr. Mitty dislikes dealing with real-life issues.

It suggests that Mr. Mitty is so absorbed in his fantasies that he's unaware of the world around him.

It suggests that Mrs. Mitty knows all about her husband's vibrant and exciting inner life.

It suggests that Mrs. Mitty is an unreasonable and uncaring woman.

Answers

Answer:

B). It suggests that Mr. Mitty is so absorbed in his fantasies that he's unaware of the world around him.

Explanation:

'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' by James Thurber relates the tale of Mr. Mitty and his fantasies of a romantic and adventurous life to have a break from his monotonous life but is stunned and threatened when exposed to real adventure.

In the given passage, the impact of Mr. Mitty's dialogue is that 'it suggests that Mr. Mitty is consumed in fantasy or delusion that he becomes unaware of the world surrounding him' which makes him fail to recognize that 'he's driving too fast' and his 'shocked and astonished' reaction compliments this thought that he was lost in his fantasies. Thus, option B is the correct answer.

The effect of the dialogue in the excerpt is:

B). It suggests that Mr. Mitty is so absorbed in his fantasies that he's unaware of the world around him.

According to the given except, we can see that Mrs Mitty calls her husband's attention to the fact that he is overspeeding and which he only replies with an absent-minded "hmm?"

As a result of this, we can see that there is a disconnect between reality and thoughts for Mr Mitty as he is absorbed in his fantasies that he does not even realise he is overspeeding.

Therefore, the correct answer is option B

Answers

the answer is a lightbulb
Final answer:

Without the specific text identified, it's challenging to answer which symbol among the options given is not found within the specified chapters. Literary symbols extend meaning beyond the literal and vary in their universality and cultural specificity.

Explanation:

The question references symbols in a literary context found within specific chapters of a text. However, without explicit reference to the text in question, it appears to be misplaced or typo-ridden, thus making it challenging to provide a direct answer to which of the options listed (a card, a skull, a lightbulb, the desert, Stargirl) is not a symbol in the specified chapters. Generally, in literature, symbols such as characters (Stargirl), objects (a lightbulb or a skull), and settings (the desert) work to compress meaning and enhance understanding through their extended metaphorical or symbolic significance. Analyzing symbols, whether they are universally recognized or culturally specific, helps in deepening comprehension of the narrative's themes and characters. While we can't specifically address which symbol is not present in the aforementioned chapters without more context, it's essential to approach literary analysis by examining how each symbol functions within the story to convey intricate meanings beyond their literal sense.

Carrier proteins change shape as they function but channel proteins do not.

What is Channel protein?

Aquaporins, also known as water channels, are channel proteins that form pores in the membrane of biological cells, primarily facilitating the transport of water between cells. They are part of a larger family of major intrinsic proteins.

Channel proteins, as opposed to carrier proteins, only create membrane holes that are open, allowing small molecules with the right size and charge to freely move through the lipid bilayer.

Carrier proteins bind the specific substance that has to be delivered (also known as carriers, permeases, or transporters),, which then go through a series of conformational changes to move the bound solute across the membrane. In contrast, channel proteins have much weaker interactions with the solute being transported.

Read the passage from A Raisin in the Sun.

MAMA (to WALTER): Son—(She goes to him, bends down to him, talks to his bent head.) Son . . . Is it gone? Son, I gave you sixty-five hundred dollars. Is it gone? All of it? Beneatha's money too?

WALTER (lifting his head slowly): Mama . . . I never . . . went to the bank at all . . .

MAMA (not wanting to believe him): You mean . . . your sister's school money . . . you used that too . . . Walter? . . .

WALTER: Yessss! All of it . . . It's all gone . . .

There is total silence. RUTH stands with her face covered with her hands; BENEATHA leans forlornly against a wall, fingering a piece of red ribbon from the mother's gift. MAMA stops and looks at her son without recognition and then, quite without thinking about it, starts to beat him senselessly in the face.

BENEATHA goes to them and stops it.

BENEATHA: Mama!

MAMA stops and looks at both of her children and rises slowly and wanders vaguely, aimlessly away from them.

MAMA: I seen . . . him . . . night after night . . . come in . . . and look at that rug . . . and then look at me . . . the red showing in his eyes . . . the veins moving in his head . . . I seen him grow thin and old before he was forty . . . working and working and working like somebody's old horse . . . killing himself . . . and you—you give it all away in a day— (She raises her arms to strike him again.)

BENEATHA: Mama—

MAMA: Oh, God . . . (She looks up to Him.) Look down here—and show me the strength.
