The Industrial Revolution affected the production of goods in that most goods were now produced by machines rather than by hand.

The Industrial Revolution transformed the way production was made. Before it, skilled people elaborated its products by hand and the process was slow. With the incorporation of new machines and technology, the fabrics created mass production. They could fabricate more products in a shorter time and at better prices.

5. In a short paragraph, describe the transition of Rome from a republic to an empire. What was the republic like, and what caused it to become an empire?

Answers

The Roman Republic was a phase of the ancient Roman civilization characterized by a republican form of government. The republican period began with the overthrow of the Monarchy in 509 BC and lasted until its subversion, through a series of civil wars, into the Roman Empire. The precise date in which the Roman Republic changed into the Roman Empire is a matter of interpretation, with the dates of Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator (44 BC), the Battle of Actium (September 2, 31 BC), and the date which the Roman Senate granted Octavian the title "Augustus" (January 16, 27 BC), being some of the common choices.
This is a distinction chiefly made by modern historians and not by the Romans of the time, however. The early Julio-Claudian emperors maintained that the res publica still existed under the protection of their extraordinary powers and would eventually return to its republican form.
Inhabitants: Roman citizenship
The Roman Republic had many different classes of people who existed within the state. Each one of them had differing rights, responsibilities, and status under Roman law.
Government:
Roman republican government was a complex system, which seems to have had several redundancies within it, and was based on custom and tradition, as much as it was on law.

Which of the following was the effect of rotten boroughs on the democratic process in England?
A. Because they consistently voted for the Tory party, they disrupted the status quo.
B. Because they refused to follow parliamentary protocol when voting, the process was voided.
C. Because they were so full of political corruption, their votes couldn’t be counted.
D. Because their population declined so much, there were few or no voters.

Answers

The correct answer should be D. Because their population declined so much, there were few or no voters.

Basically, the Burroughs were small enough to enable a sufficiently wealthy patron to buy all the votes and become a member of the parliament and control some of the voting due to the large number of representatives in the parliament while in reality  their number should've been much lower. They would buy their way into the parliament and represent an inadequate number of people. There was one borough that had only 13 voters and yet had a high number of representatives in the parliament.

Final answer:

The effect of rotten boroughs on the democratic process in England was the overrepresentation of depopulated areas in Parliament, undermining fair representation. The Great Reform Act of 1832 addressed this by eliminating rotten boroughs and redistributing parliamentary seats.

Explanation:

The effect of rotten boroughs on the democratic process in England was that, due to a drastic decline in their population, there were few or sometimes no voters in these constituencies. These electoral districts, sometimes ravaged by shifts in population because of the Industrial Revolution, continued to send members to Parliament despite their minuscule or nonexistent resident electorates. Highly populated cities that sprung up during the industrialization, like Birmingham and Manchester, had no representation, while these 'rotten boroughs' remained overrepresented. Moreover, 'rotten boroughs' represented a larger issue of political corruption and mismanagement in the democratic process, where such boroughs could be controlled remotely by wealthy lords, undermining the concept of fair representation.

As part of the reform process, the Great Reform Act of 1832 notably eliminated 'rotten boroughs' and reallocated seats in the House of Commons to better reflect demographic realities, thus beginning a slow liberalization and democratization of British politics.

Which of the following describes the impact of job specialization on Neolithic societies? A. Women and men became more economically and socially equal. B. Trade declined since societies could produce all of their own goods. C. More people were able to focus on developing skills other than farming. D. What was impact of job specialization on Neolithic societies?

Prior to the Neolithic Revolution, job specialization was fairly straightforward: men hunted, while women gathered. However, job specialization increased dramatically after the invention of agriculture. The abundance of food enabled many people to pursue various types of work. Artists, merchants, artisans, scribes, soldiers, and priests rose to prominence.

This resulted in increased interdependence in society, as each individual became more reliant on others to provide the necessities of life. In the Neolithic world, specialization helped to establish a greater sense of social order and, eventually, a greater sense of social hierarchy.

Final answer:

In Neolithic societies, job specialization led to more people engaging in non-farming roles, such as artisans and traders, resulting in social hierarchy and varying economic statuses. C. More people were able to focus on developing skills other than farming.

Explanation:

The impact of job specialization on Neolithic societies is described by how after the Neolithic Revolution, there was a significant transformation in the daily lives of people, as they moved from hunting and gathering to permanent agriculture-based communities. In this new socio-economic framework, job specialization became prevalent, leading to the option C. More people were able to focus on developing skills other than farming. This specialization allowed wealth accumulation in certain sectors, leading to the establishment of a societal hierarchy based on economic status, with successful farmers and skilled artisans gaining wealth and social standing, while others might end up in servitude.

Due to the surplus in food production, some individuals could divert their attention to becoming artisans, traders, or religious leaders, expanding the range of economic activities within these societies. This diversification of roles also brought about profound social changes, such as the establishment of ruling elites and a defined class system. Additionally, gender roles shifted as men typically took on the outdoor work of tending crops, while women were often confined to domestic responsibilities, further transforming social dynamics.

Explain the principle of checks and balances as it relates to the power of the president. Provide one example to support your explanation.

Answers

Checks and Balances was designed to keep each branch from assuming too much power. Presidential power is checked and balanced in many ways. While he can veto various bills and keep them from becoming laws, he can be overridden by a 2/3 vote in both houses. SO if the Congress feels like the President is over stepping his bounds then they can in turn overrule him. The Supreme Court is also in the mix in that if they deem a law to be unconstitutional then they can rule it so and the law is no more. Presidents can influence Supreme Courts by whom they nominate for open positions (or in the case of one President, attempt to add more judges to the Court). However, after the nomination is made and the Senate approves and confirms them then they are free. The only way a Judge can be removed is they are found to be doing something illegal, deemed incompetent and unable to continue doing their job, resign, or die. This allows judges to "operate outside the realm of politics." The idea is that they can focus and not worry about politics and we can assume that decisions will be made free from political influences and bribery.
Final answer:

Checks and Balances are a core democratic principle of American government, whereby each branch of the government has some measure of influence over the other branches. An example of checks and balances as it relates to the power of the president is the president's veto power and the ability of Congress to override a veto.

At your price, you will have an excess demand for jeans.

The correct answer is: "excess of demand for jeans".

The equilibrum price represents the point at which the desires of producers and consumer meet in a market. Therefore, the product is commercialized at the market price where the quantity supplied equals the quantity demanded.

The law of demand states that there is an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded (ceteris paribus, hence given that the rest remains equal), while the law of supply states that there is a direct relationship between price and quantity supplied (ceteris paribus.

Therefore, if price is set under the equilibrium price, the price has  experienced a decrease if compared to the equilibrum price. The amount demanded will rise, while the amount supplied will be decreased, generating an excess of demand.
