Answer 2

Answer:

The Space Shuttle was a partially reusable low Earth orbital spacecraft system that was operated from 1981 to 2011 by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as part of the Space Shuttle program. Its official program name was Space Transportation System (STS), taken from a 1969 plan for a system of reusable spacecraft of which it was the only item funded for development.[10] The first of four orbital test flights occurred in 1981, leading to operational flights beginning in 1982. Five complete Space Shuttle orbiter vehicles were built and flown on a total of 135 missions from 1981 to 2011, launched from the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. Operational missions launched numerous satellites, interplanetary probes, and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST); conducted science experiments in orbit; and participated in construction and servicing of the International Space Station. The Shuttle fleet's total mission time was 1322 days, 19 hours, 21 minutes and 23 seconds.[11]

Shuttle components include the Orbiter Vehicle (OV) with three clustered Rocketdyne RS-25 main engines, a pair of recoverable solid rocket boosters (SRBs), and the expendable external tank (ET) containing liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. The Space Shuttle was launched vertically, like a conventional rocket, with the two SRBs operating in parallel with the OV's three main engines, which were fueled from the ET. The SRBs were jettisoned before the vehicle reached orbit, and the ET was jettisoned just before orbit insertion, which used the orbiter's two Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) engines. At the conclusion of the mission, the orbiter fired its OMS to deorbit and reenter the atmosphere. The orbiter then glided as a spaceplane to a runway landing, usually to the Shuttle Landing Facility at KSC, Florida or Rogers Dry Lake in Edwards Air Force Base, California. After landing at Edwards, the orbiter was flown back to the KSC on the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a specially modified Boeing 747.

The first orbiter, Enterprise, was built in 1976, used in Approach and Landing Tests and has no orbital capability. Four fully operational orbiters were initially built: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, and Atlantis. Of these, two were lost in mission accidents: Challenger in 1986 and Columbia in 2003, with a total of fourteen astronauts killed. A fifth operational (and sixth in total) orbiter, Endeavour, was built in 1991 to replace Challenger. The Space Shuttle was retired from service upon the conclusion of Atlantis's final flight on July 21, 2011. The U.S. has since relied on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft to transport astronauts to the International Space Station, pending the Commercial Crew Development and Space Launch System programs with flights to begin in the 2020s.

Evaluate the extent of change in United States foreign policy in the period 1783 to 1828.

I need it to be a essay type thing. PLEASE!!!

Answers

Answer:

Foreign policy is the relationship of any country with other countries around the globe.

The congress decided to make major changes in the foreign policy of America. They tailored it according to the Articles of Confederation. This was followed between 1776 to 1789.In 1783, the Paris treaty was signed as a result of which America could spread its colony to the Mississippi River. With the French Revolution on its way, the United States decided to play a neutral role regardless of being an old ally of the French.Hence in 1795, a peace treaty between Britain and America was signed to prevent any unforeseeable war. The Jeffersonian's opposed this policy of neutral character. As a result of which after a year or so the French started seizing American ships and implemented war on the United States. To get American's out of this situation, Adam presented a plan which got approved by the Congress in 1800 hence the American Navy was organized accordingly.Later, President Jefferson got elected and became the driving force to lead the Empire of Liberty. He completely changed the foreign policy. He made many efforts of expansion to the Mississippi River and also signed the Embargo Act of 1807.All the trade with Britain and French was stopped as well.In 1812, America entirely changed its diplomatic role and started a war with Britain. This war was quite ill planned hence another Act of Ghent was signed between the two powers to promote peace. While in the 1820s, a new policy was adopted that prevented the involvement of Britain in American affairs.
Final answer:

U.S. foreign policy from 1783-1828 started with neutrality and evolved towards an interventionist stance within the Western Hemisphere marked by the Monroe Doctrine.

Explanation:

The period from 1783 to 1828 saw significant changes in the United States' foreign policy. Beginning with an initial stance of neutrality, the U.S. policy changed to a more active approach toward foreign relations under various presidencies.

In 1783, with the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War, the U.S. adopted a policy of neutrality, wishing to avoid European conflicts. This policy was reinforced in Washington's 1796 Farewell Address, where he warned against permanent alliances with foreign nations.

The Monroe Doctrine, announced in 1823, marked a significant shift. It pronounced U.S. opposition to European interference in the Americas, stating that the American continents were not to be considered for future colonization by any European powers. This policy effectively positioned the United States as a protector of the Western Hemisphere and signaled a more assertive role in international politics.

So, in this period U.S. foreign policy evolved from isolationist neutrality to a more interventionist stance, especially concerning the affairs of the Western Hemisphere, without getting involved in European affairs.

Explanation:

Final answer:

The Kellogg-Briand Pact was ultimately a failure because it lacked enforcement mechanisms and many nations still engaged in war after its signing. It didn't cause the Great Depression or start the United Nations.

Explanation:

The Kellogg-Briand Pact can be considered as ultimately a failure in achieving its intended purpose, that is, to put an end to war as a tool of national policy. The Pact, signed in 1928, was an agreement to outlaw war and it was ratified by many nations, including the United States. However, it was ineffective as it lacked any enforcement mechanisms and many of the signatory nations still engaged in war in the years following its signing. This Pact was not the cause of the Great Depression nor was it the start of the United Nations.

Name one change in the game of basketball from the original game

The introduction of the backboard is a significant change from the original game of basketball invented in 1891, where bushel baskets were used without backboards.

One significant change in the game of basketball from the original game that was invented is the introduction of the backboard. Initially, basketball hoops did not have backboards. When the game was first invented by Dr. James Naismith in 1891, he hung two bushel baskets for goals and players had to throw a soccer ball into these baskets to score. The addition of backboards prevented spectators in balconies above the playing area from interfering with the ball and allowed for rebounds, which added new strategic elements to the game.

Which political group believed that states' rights weren't nearly as important as national power?

Answers

Answer:

The Federalists thought we should have a strong central government. The Anti-federalists, however, thought we should have states rights instead of centralized power.

Hope this helps :)

Final answer:

The Federalists were the political group that favored national power over states' rights, advocating for a stronger central government.

Explanation:

The political group that believed states' rights were not as important as national power were called the Federalists. They emerged from the first factions in President George Washington's cabinet with Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton as a key proponent, who hoped to build a strong national economic system. The Federalists favored national supremacy and were in favor of a strong central government that could override some of the states' independent powers, legislating for states on many areas, and providing a more unified and powerful national presence.

Opponents of the Federalist view were the Republicans, led by figures such as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison earlier on, who advocated for a limited national government and greater state sovereignty. The debate between these two perspectives on federalism and states' rights has been a recurring theme in American history, influencing various political stances up to the present day. The nationalists at the Constitutional Convention, such as George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, believed in granting the national government more expansive powers which would include the ability to regulate commerce, maintain order, and protect the republic against foreign and domestic threats.
