what did dubcek want to acheive with his "socialism with a human face"?

Answers

Answer 1
Czechoslovakian leader Alexander Dubcek wanted to reinvigorate the Czech people's support for the socialist program of the country.
The program Dubcek introduced allowed for greater participation by the people in local and national politics, relaxed some of the restrictions on the press, and emphasized individual initiative.  It did not, however, intend to reduced the authority of the Communist Party, or turn Czechoslovakia into a democratic country, or shift toward capitalism as an economic strategy.  It was mostly just a softening of the communist agenda and an attempt to rally people behind the government.  Things took on a life of their own, though, and led to the "Prague Spring" movement -- which was then put down heavy-handedly by the Soviet Union, the dominant Communist power that presided over the Eastern European communist countries.
Answer 2

To establish reforms that would make Czechoslovakia a better place to live.

Why does every government decision cost something?

Answers

Think about the idea here and you'll see how the idea of "cost" is inevitable in every decision.  (It's true not just of governments, but of our own decisions too -- but we'll focus on governments here.)

Let's say the government decides it wants all citizens to have access to health care.  Well, that's going to cost dollars to pay for that health care.  Where will those dollars come from?

Let's say the government decides, in response to school shootings or other acts of gun violence, to ban certain types of guns or ammunition.  That costs something to the gun dealers who were making money off those sales (and they'll object).  Or let's say the government decides to do further and deeper background checks on all gun buyers.  Well, that will cost something in terms of personnel and processes to accomplish all the background checks.  Or let's say the government decides to increase mental health screenings and treatment because persons with mental illness issues may become violent and dangerous to society.  That will cost much in order to organize and carry out better mental health intervention across the country.

I focused on just a couple issues there (health care, gun control).  But the same principle holds on anything government does.  You can think about your own examples that you'd want to use.  Anything the government decides to do comes with some sort of costs attached.  That doesn't mean it's bad to make such decisions -- it just means we need to count the cost and invest our efforts where they will have the best benefit.

Which three promises in the magna carta made sure that free men were treated properly by the courts?

Answers

The three promises in the Magna Carta that made sure that free men were treated properly by the courts were:

1. No-one is above the law.
2. Free men have the right to a fair trial.
3. Free men who are taxed should have some form of representation.

The Magna Carta promised:

1. No free man shall be punished unless judged lawfully by his peers.

2. There shall be no "selling" of justice -- in other words, no bribes accepted by those in the position of judging.

3. Fines assessed against those convicted of an offense shall not be more than the person could afford to pay

Here are clauses from the Magna Carta which include such promises.

Clause 20: For a trivial offence, a free man shall be fined only in proportion to the degree of his offence, and for a serious offence correspondingly, but not so heavily as to deprive him of his livelihood.

Clause 39: No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any other way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land.

Clause 40: To no one will we sell, to no one deny or delay right or justice.

A poll showed voters prefer that members of Congress act as delegates. How might we expect the affect of this to differ between senators and representatives? Get Answer

Answers

For an elected official to serve as a "delegate" means that the voters of that state or district want the person they elect to represent their interests.  They're not saying, "We voted for you because we trust you to do what's best for us."  They're saying, "We've indicated to you what we want and need for this state or district, so we want you to go to Congress and work for those things on our behalf."

When voters feel this way, elected officials will feel they must carry out the will of the voters in their state or district or risk being removed from office when the next election occurs.  Since representatives to the House serve only two year terms, while members of the Senate serve six year terms, you can expect the delegate theory will affect the US House representatives more immediately and prominently.  Their actions in office will still be fresh in memory when the next election cycle occurs.  Senators have a longer time to establish a track record that will earn the trust of their constituents.
