Contrast the Dursleys’ perception of magic with Harry’s perception of magic in this passage. Cite examples from the text to support your claim

Answers

Final answer:

The Dursleys' perception of magic is contrasted with Harry's perception in the passage. The Dursleys fear and reject magic, while Harry is fascinated and empowered by it.

Explanation:

In the passage, the Dursleys' perception of magic is contrasted with Harry's perception. The Dursleys see magic as something abnormal and forbidden, causing them to fear and reject it. This is evident when they try to suppress Harry's magical abilities and keep him ignorant about his true identity. On the other hand, Harry sees magic as something fascinating and empowering. He embraces his magical heritage and is excited to learn more about it.

One example from the text that supports this contrast is when the Dursleys force Harry to live in a cupboard under the stairs and refuse to acknowledge his magical abilities. This shows their negative perception of magic. In contrast, when Harry receives his acceptance letter from Hogwarts and discovers he is a wizard, he is filled with excitement and curiosity.

Overall, the Dursleys' perception of magic is characterized by fear and rejection, while Harry's perception is characterized by fascination and empowerment.

Jacobs How does Mr. White feel after the third wish has been granted? scared relieved sad angry at himself

Answers

Answer:

relieved

Explanation:

Mr. white is terrified about what his son might have become. He even yells at his wife to not let "it" in. He is relieved that his third and final wish had worked and his son did not come back from the dead.

In "The Monkey's Paw," Mr. White feel sad after the third wish has been granted. The right answer is c.

The passage describes a series of unsettling events, including the sudden cessation of knocking, the cold wind rushing up the staircase, and the long wail of disappointment and misery from his wife. These events contribute to a sense of foreboding and indicate that something negative has occurred.

Therefore, Mr. White's feeling of sadness aligns with the ominous atmosphere and the consequences of the granted wishes. The events following the third wish intensify his feelings of sorrow and regret, as the quiet and deserted road illuminated by the flickering street lamp symbolizes the emptiness and loss that now permeate their lives.

The correct answer is option c.

Option (C) is correct

Wiley’s answer to the question of what should be done regarding the existing war statues is to Create more statues- respond to negative with positive

Explanation:

I think we must create more statues, this will enable us to react positively toward negativity. Negativity gives rise to more negativity but if any positive step is taken with negativity than it will create an example.

Positive actions are always good for the growth of the nation. By creating more statues, an awareness will be created among the people regarding the disastrous effects of war. This will always remind us that war is not healthy for a nation. And it will give a message of peace to the people of the country.

Some people say that going to a Western art music concert is a passive experience. Would you say this is true? Answer:

True but...

Explanation:

To start with I object to the term Art music; This supposes a clear distinction between some sort of ´intellectualy aproved¨ music and popular music for simple folk. This division is arbitrary, because what yesterday was still considered a form of popular music, today might be seen as pure art music.

But let´s say that art music is music to listen to, not for dancing. Here again we enter in conflict because I know a lot of good dance music that you can consciously listen to, while you´re dancing or having a cup of tea. By the way, Jazz music, which has been overwhelmingly embraced by the intelectual academic world, started with the dance-band orchestras of the twenties.

Anyway, the keywords here are listening and dancing. Because listening is passive and dancing is active. So if we take classical European music I would say it is a passive experience; the same for Indian classical music, although the experience is much more ¨emotional, due to the Oriental filosophy that speaks to you through the music.

While we are at the topic of World Music, concerts of African and Latin American music (with its African roots) tend to be more active.

One more thing: I personally prefer small groups in small places because the passive listening experience easily evolves in something more... participative, due to the more personal atmosphere where you actually can interact with the musicians.
