A Paperweight In The Shape Of A Rectangular Pyramid Is Shown:If A Cross Section Of The Paperweight Is

Answers

Answer 1
When the pyramid is cut perpendicular to its base and passing through the vertex, the cross section which will be obtained will have 3 sides. Hence a triangle will be formed.

A triangle has 3 vertices. In this case one vertex will be located at the same position as is the vertex of the pyramid. The other two vertex will be located on the sides of the rectangular base of the pyramid.

None of the angle will be a Right Angle so the triangle will be an Oblique Triangle. To determine if the triangle is equilateral, isosceles or scalene we need to know the side lengths of the pyramid.
Answer 2

Answer:

The correct answer is a triangle will be formed.

Step-by-step explanation:

If a cross section of the paperweight is cut perpendicular to the base and passes through the top vertex, the resulting figure will have 3 sides or vertices. Hence, this shape will be a triangle. The triangle only forms if it does pass through the top vertex.

So, triangle is the answer.

Leo bought a used car for x dollars. one year later the value of the car was 0.88x. which expression is another way to describe the change in the value of the car?
A)0.12% decrease
B)0.88% decrease
C)12% decrease
D)88% decrease

Answers

Initial price of car = $x

After one year the price of car = $0.88x

to find the change in price we subtract the price after one year from initial price.

It means change in price = (x-0.88x)= 0.12x

By this we can easily see that , price dropped by 0.12

Or we can say that price dropped by 12%

So option C is the correct answer

C) 12% decrease

Find an for the arithmetic series with s16 = -288 And a1 =-21

Answers

Final answer:

Given the sum of the sequence and the first term, we rearrange the formula for the sum to solve for 'd', the common difference. This will allow us to calculate the term at any given point in the arithmetic sequence.

Explanation:

In an arithmetic sequence, the nth term can be represented by the formula a + (n-1)d where 'a' is the first term, 'n' is the number of terms and 'd' is the common difference between the terms.

The sum, 's', of the first 'n' terms in an arithmetic sequence is given by the formula s = n/2 * (2a + (n - 1)d).

Given the sum, 's', and the first term in the sequence, 'a', we can rearrange the sum formula to find 'd', the common difference, which will then allow us to find any term in the sequence.

We have s16 = -288 and a1 = -21. So, our problem reduces to solve for 'd' in s = n/2 * (2a + (n - 1)d) The solution with most relevance to the student's question will be the calculated 'd' value.

Mr Connors drove 78 1/3 miles on Monday, 77 1/12 miles on Tuesday, and 75 5/6 miles on Wednesday. If he continues this pattern on Thursday and Friday, How many fewer miles will he drive on Friday then don't Tuesday

Answers

Answer:

3 3/4 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Mr. Connors' pattern is to drive 1 3/12 fewer miles each day. The third day after Tuesday (on Friday), he wll drive 3×(1 1/4) = 3 3/4 fewer miles than on Tuesday.

Final answer:

Mr. Connors will drive 1/12 mile fewer on Friday compared to Tuesday.

Explanation:

To find how many fewer miles Mr. Connors will drive on Friday compared to Tuesday, we need to calculate the difference in the distances driven.

On Tuesday, he drove 77 1/12 miles.

On Friday, he will continue the pattern of subtracting a fraction from the distance driven each day. Therefore, we can subtract the same fraction (1/12) from the distance driven on Friday.

So, the difference in miles driven between Friday and Tuesday will be 77 1/12 - (77 1/12 - 1/12), which simplifies to 1/12 mile.

Therefore, Mr. Connors will drive 1/12 mile fewer on Friday compared to Tuesday.

An individual head of a sprinkler system covers a circular area of grass with a radius of 25 feet. The yard has 3 sprinkler heads that each cover a circular area with no overlap. What is the approximate total area that will be watered?

Answers

Answer:

Approximate Total area that will be watered is 5887.5 feet²

Step-by-step explanation:

Radius of the Circular area that sprinkler cover , r = 25 feet

Number of sprinkler = 3

Area covered by 1 sprinkler = Area of circle

                                          = πr²

                                          = 3.14 × (25)²

 Answer:
 It takes 6 cups of 1/8 to measure the light corn syrup 9/12

Final answer:

To measure 9/12 or 3/4 of a cup of syrup using a 1/8 cup, fill and level-off the 1/8 cup measuring cup six times. This uses basic fraction multiplication and measurement skills appropriate for middle school mathematics.

Explanation:

To measure light corn syrup using a 1/8 cup measuring cup, you first need to understand the fraction you're working with, which is 9/12 of a cup. Simplifying this fraction gives you 3/4 of a cup (since 9/12 reduces to 3/4 by dividing both the numerator and denominator by 3). Now, since there are 8 portions of 1/8 in a full cup, you need 6 portions of 1/8 (because 3/4 equals 6/8) to measure out 3/4 of a cup of light corn syrup.

To do this, you'll fill the 1/8 cup measuring cup six times and add each portion to your mixture to reach the desired amount of 9/12 or 3/4 of a cup of syrup. This is a simple example of using measurements and fractions to achieve the correct proportions in a recipe or any culinary preparation.

Remeber that in a right-angled triangle, the side opposite the right angle is the hypotenuse, the side opposite the given angle (or θ) is the called the opposite, and the remaining side is named the adjacent.
There are three trigonometric ratios you can use to find missing angles and sides, and the abbreviation is SOH CAH TOA. This just means that sine is paired with the opposite and the hypotenuse, cosine with the adjacent and the hypotenuse, and tangent with the opposite and the adjacent. You can search this up later to see how each aspect relates to the other in each trio.

The side X is the adjacent side of the triangle and you are given the opposite side as well, which measures 6 units. So if you have OA, the trigonometric ratio you are going to use is cosine as the group is TOA. Now, use the information to solve for X:

Four balls are selected at random without replacement from an urn containing three white balls and five blue balls. Find the probability of the given event. (Round your answer to three decimal places.)

All of the balls are blue

Answers

Final answer:

To find the probability of selecting all blue balls, we divide the number of ways to choose 4 blue balls out of 8 by the number of ways to choose 4 balls out of 8 blue balls and 3 white balls.

Explanation:

To find the probability of selecting all blue balls, we need to consider the number of ways we can choose 4 blue balls out of the 8 blue balls in the urn, divided by the total number of ways we can choose 4 balls out of the 8 blue balls and 3 white balls in the urn.

The probability can be calculated as:

P(All blue balls) = (Number of ways to choose 4 blue balls out of 8) / (Number of ways to choose 4 balls out of 8 blue balls and 3 white balls)

Since the balls are selected without replacement, the number of ways to choose 4 blue balls out of 8 is 8 choose 4. The number of ways to choose 4 balls out of 8 blue balls and 3 white balls is 11 choose 4.

Therefore, the probability of selecting all blue balls is P(All blue balls) = (8 choose 4) / (11 choose 4).

Bowling costs $4.50 per game (g). Shoe rental costs $3.75 each. The total cost is a function of the number of games. What function rule models the total cost of games and shoe rental? Evaluate the function for three games.

Answers

let x = number of games, let y = cost of shoe rental   then        Total cost = x•$4 + y   In this case, TC = 3•$4 + $2   TC = $14

The cost function is an illustration of linear functions

The cost function is [tex]C(x) = 3.75 + 4.50x[/tex]The cost for three games is $17.25

From the question, we have:

[tex]G = 4.50[/tex] --- cost per game

[tex]R = 3.75[/tex] --- cost per shoe rent

Since the cost is a function of number of games, it means that;

The cost of shoe rent is a fixed cost

Let x represents the number of games.

So, the cost function is:

[tex]C(x) = R + G \times x[/tex]

This gives

[tex]C(x) = 3.75 + 4.50 \times x[/tex]

[tex]C(x) = 3.75 + 4.50x[/tex]

Substitute 3 for x; to evaluate the function for 3 games

[tex]C(3) = 3.75 + 4.50 \times 3[/tex]

[tex]C(3) = 3.75 + 13.50[/tex]

[tex]C(3) = 17.25[/tex]

Hence, the cost for three games is $17.25

how to find the area of 2 half circles and a rectangle

Hello!

We use different formulas to calculate the areas of different shape.

RECTANGLE:

To find the area of a rectangle, we must simply multiply its length by its width. The formula for its area is:

A = l × w

SEMICIRCLE:

Since the formula for a circle is pi × r × r, we must use the same formula but divide it in half, because a semicircle is a half circle, which is why its area would also be half of a circle's. The formula for a semicircle's area is:

A = 1/2 pi × r × r

Tip:

Write these formulas down and memorize them so that you don't forget them. You'll have to use these formulas quite often when finding the area of these shapes.

He wanted to prove that the power could be transferred to other objects. He grabbed a kite and experimented on a stormy afternoon. Franklin believed that thunderclouds contained electrical charges. His plan was to fly the kite into the clouds so that electricity passed down the wet kite string. With his son, William, as his assistant, he went to work. First, he tied an iron key to the silk kite string. Next, he ran a metal wire from the key into a jar designed to store electrical charges. Once the kite was in the air, he stood in a barn to keep safe and dry. Soon, electrical charges from the clouds passed into the kite. They traveled along the wet string, to the key, down the wire, and into the jar. When Franklin reached his hand toward the key, he received a mild shock. The electricity had been captured and transferred. The experiment was a success. At least it was for Benjamin Franklin. Other scientists were killed trying to duplicate his efforts. Looking back, it was not the safest way to test his theory. In this case, it worked out and paved the way for future discoveries about electricity. Twas strange to see him all alone on such a stormy night. Who goes out in a thunderstorm and tries to fly a kite? He tied a key around the string then looked up to the sky. He showed no fear as thunder crashed then launched the kite up high. I found the whole thing frightening from the safety of my room. I watched each flash of lightning with a growing sense of doom. Then a burst of light struck the kite. It glowed as if on fire. The string lit up as if it were a red-hot piece of wire. And in the midst of all of this, my eyes beheld the key. It danced upon the kite string as if filled with energy. Down on the ground, quite safe and sound, the man was dancing, too. The reason for his happiness? I have not got a clue. Was he just pleased that he survived or was it something more? My curiosity was sparked, but Ill never know for sure.
