How Have the differences between romeo and Juliet returned to threaten their future together

Answers

Answer 1
Both families hate each other, but R falls for J and vice versa. This causes R to kill T in revenge for M's death and he must leave to some shanty-town; T doesn't like R, vice versa, and despite R loving J and therefore wanting to love her family, he can't bring himself to forgive T for M's death and it might because of R's family hating J's family. J wants to find a way run away with R and decides to fake her death since her family cannot forgive R and R did commit a murder that should be paid with his own head. A letter is sent, but R doesn't get it since he decides to return after hearing of J's "death". He ends up fighting P who was to be J's husband and commits suicide. J wakes up and finds R dying and kills herself too so they can both be together forever. The whole "I hate you" is the reason why they both died. They could of ran off together, but their families would track them down and blame the other which would probably lead to both of R's and J's deaths. Hatred leads to M's, T's, and P's death since M was hated for being friendly with R's family, T's death was in revenge and perhaps a subconscious hatred of J's family, and P's death came from P blaming R for for J's "death" and perhaps a hatred for R's family as well. Basically, this story is about stupid things screwing over stupid, but nice people.i hope this answered your question:)
Answer 2
Both families hate each other so they can’t be together no matter how much they love each, but they don’t care about that which is going to draw a ledge between Juliet and family and Romeo and his family

For the research topic below, select the letter of the best reason that the reference would need to be supplemented with additional information or opinions. Topic: The Orangutan, an Endangered Species Reference: Apes and Monkeys, published 1980

a. does not contain current information on endangered species status
b. provides information that is too general

Answers

The correct answer is “A. does not contain current information on endangered species status.”

Anytime you are doing research for a paper, you’ll want to have the most current publications available in order for your writing to be considered credible.  This is especially important for time-sensitive topics such as that of a paper on endangered species because endangered status is something that is not static and is subject to change frequently.  Thus, from year to year animals are, both, put on and taken off endangered species lists.  “Current” information will vary from discipline to discipline, but a good rule to keep in mind is that all the sources you use should have been published within the last 5 years.

Answers

the answer is B. wander

Answer: The meaning of the word 'rove' as used in this passage is wander.

Explanation: The word 'rove' has been used as a verb in this passage and its meaning is to travel long distances without knowing which is the destination. In that way, the meaning of the word 'rove' is closely related to the act of wandering. Hunter Sanger Rainsford washes up on the shore of an island owned by the wealthy General Zaroff. Rainsford sees evidence of someone hunting large game on the island. Zaroff claims he has been importing game for his hunts.

Rainsford soon realizes that Zaroff has been hunting humans for sport. When he refuses to join Zaroff on a hunt, the General turns against him.
Zaroff informs Rainsford that he will be hunted for the next three days. If Rainsford survives, he will be returned to the mainland, provided that he promises to tell no one of what happens on the island.
Rainsford hides deep in the woods, where he sets several traps to outsmart Zaroff. Eventually, he decides to jump back into the sea to escape. Rainsford then sneaks into Zaroff’s quarters and kills him, turning the tables on hunter and prey.
The most important event in the whole story has to be when Rainsford finds out that Zaroff is a human hunter for fun because he is bored from the fact that animals have no reasoning. The other important event is when Rainsford is the one being hunted and it may change his reasoning to hunting and scar him for life.

How does his defiance of atticus's order to leave make him similar to atticus in scout's estimation?

Answers

Final answer:

Jem's defiance of Atticus's order to leave makes him similar to Atticus in Scout's estimation because both characters display courage and a strong sense of justice.

Explanation:

In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout's brother Jem defies Atticus's order to leave during Atticus's confrontation with a group of men at the jail. This act of defiance makes Jem similar to Atticus in Scout's estimation because both characters display courage and a strong sense of justice.

Atticus, as a lawyer, defends Tom Robinson, an innocent black man accused of a crime. Atticus is willing to stand up against the ingrained racism and prejudice of the town, even though he knows it will be a difficult and unpopular task.

Similarly, Jem's defiance shows his sense of justice and unwillingness to back down from what he believes is right. Both characters are willing to challenge the status quo and fight for what they believe in, which earns Scout's admiration.

“Hanging Fire”
by Audre Lorde

I am fourteen
and my skin has betrayed me
the boy I cannot live without
still sucks his thumb
in secret
how come my knees are
always so ashy
what if I die
before the morning comes
and momma’s in the bedroom
with the door closed.

I have to learn how to dance
in time for the next party
my room is too small for me
suppose I die before graduation
they will sing sad melodies
but finally
tell the truth about me
There is nothing I want to do
and too much
that has to be done
and momma’s in the bedroom
with the door closed.

Nobody even stops to think
about my side of it
I should have been on Math Team
my marks were better than his
why do I have to be
the one
wearing braces
I have nothing to wear tomorrow
will I live long enough
to grow up
and momma’s in the bedroom
with the door closed.

Which poetic techniques are illustrated in the opening lines “I am fourteen/and my skin has betrayed me/the boy I cannot live without/still sucks his thumb/in secret”?

A. alliteration and metaphor

B. allusion and alliteration

C. apostrophe and simile

D. personification and enjambment

Answers

Personification and enjambment would be the answer

The correct answer is D. Personification and enjambement

Explanation:

In poetry, there are different techniques poets usually use for stylistic purposes this includes the rhyme, the onomatopoeia, the alliteration, the simile, the personification, among others. In the case of personification, this technique occurs when objects, plants, animals or entities that are not humans are given human features or are represented as people. In the verses from the poem "Hanging Fire" by Audre Lorde this can be seen in "and my skin has betrayed me" because the skin is an inanimate object that has been given the action of betrayal which is somehow exclusive from people.

On the other hand, enjambment which is another poetry technique occurs when the verses do not end at the end of a complete idea, which means in poems with enjambement one idea is developed through multiple verses. This device can also be found in the poem by Audre Lorde as the idea "I am fourteen/and my skin has betrayed me" is divided into verses and the idea "the boy I cannot live without/still sucks his thumb/in secret" is divided into three verses. Therefore, in this poem, the techniques illustrated are personification and enjambement.

Odysseus plans a surprise attack on the suitors from within the palace. Odysseus will enter disguised as a beggar and Telemachus will hide the palace's arms where the suitors cannot easily reach them. The two of them will then slaughter the suitors. What would have happened if Odysseus had not arrived in a disguise? Odysseus would not have been able to determine who was loyal. The suitors might be unprepared to ambush him. The suitors might be prepared to kill Telemachus. The suitors might be prepared to run away.

i think A would be your answer

Answer:

The best answer to the question: Odysseus plans a surprise attack on the suitors from within the palace. Odysseus will enter disguised as a beggar and Telemachus will hide the palace´s arms where the suitors cannot easily reach them... What would have happened if Odysseus had not arrived in disguise?, would be: Odysseus would not have been able to determine who was loyal.

Explanation:

In fact, it is in this way that both his most trusted servants, the swineherd and the sheperdherd were discovered as being completely trustworthy, in the adventure of "The Odyssey" by Homer. Odysseus has been told of what awaits him in his home in Ithaca, where he is King, the amount of suitors who wish to marry his wife, Penelope. He also learns that without disguising himself, he will be killed outright, by sheer numbers. So, Athena herself helps him to disguise himself as a beggar, who will be the least likely person to raise any suspicions from the suitors. However, it will also ensure that only those who truly knew him, and loved him, and were loyal, would be able to see beyong the disguise, and that is exactly what happens before Odysseus´ plan is put into effect.

Comment the correct answer.

The correct answer is C. Expresses feelings, attitudes, and beliefs

Explanation:

The word "fact" refers to information or events that exist according to reality and therefore are considered as valid or true. Because of this, facts are verifiable, which means they can be proven through the scientific method or supported by using arguments or information from reliable sources and also, facts are objective, this means facts do not depend on the perceptions or beliefs from people. Indeed, a fact is opposite to the feelings, attitudes, beliefs or perceptions of people, because these are subjective and facts are objective. Therefore, the option that does not describe a fact is "expresses feelings, attitudes, and beliefs".

Consider these versions of The War of the Worlds.

Excerpt 1, from H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds:

I think everyone expected to see a man emerge—possibly something a little unlike us terrestrial men, but in all essentials a man. I know I did. But, looking, I presently saw something stirring within the shadow: greyish billowy movements, one above another, and then two luminous disks—like eyes. Then something resembling a little grey snake, about the thickness of a walking stick, coiled up out of the writhing middle, and wriggled in the air towards me—and then another.

Excerpt 2, from Howard E. Koch's script for Orson Welles's radio adaptation:

PHILLIPS: Ladies and gentlemen, this is the most terrifying thing I have ever witnessed . . . Wait a minute! Someone's crawling out of the hollow top. Someone or . . . something. I can see peering out of that black hole two luminous disks . . . are they eyes? It might be a face. It might be . . .

(SHOUT OF AWE FROM THE CROWD)

PHILLIPS: Good heavens, something's wriggling out of the shadow like a gray snake. Now it's another one, and another. They look like tentacles to me.

Which statement best describes the difference between these versions?

The radio adaptation shares more factual information than the novel.
The radio adaptation shares more humorous insight than the novel.
The radio adaptation is more frenzied than the novel.
The radio adaptation is more cheerful than the novel.

Answers

The radio adaptation is more frenzied than the novel.

The radio adaptation puts the person witnessing the events in real time, so he is discovering these things with the audience. It has more of a feeling of frenzy because his fear and surprise are more clear, rather than the novel's more calm and objective description.

The correct answer is C. The radio adaptation is more frenzied than the novel.

Explanation:

An adaptation or version mainly occurs when a literary work such as a novel or short story is transformed into a new material such as audio, film or similar. Considering the type of material of the original version (written form) and the type of material of the adaptation (audio or audiovisual version) differ greatly some of the content of the material might also change.

In the case of the versions of "The War of the Worlds" by H. G. Well the original version which is a novel presents an scene in which a new creature appears for doing this the author mainly uses some punctuation marks to create some suspense such as the dashes (—) and descriptive details such as "something resembling a little grey snake, about the thickness of a walking stick" in a text that flows uniformly without interruptions.

On the other hand, in the case of the radio adaptation the narrator relies on longer pauses and breaks represented by the ellipsis (...) and exclamatory expression such as "Wait a minute! " or "Good heavens" that create different tones and makes the version be more Frenzy or agitated as the reactions of the narrator are included along with multiple pauses which are not included in the first version. Thus, the statement that describes the difference between the versions is "The radio adaptation is more frenzied than the novel".

Read the following passage from “The Devil and Tom Walker.” What statement about the cultural attitudes in Massachusetts is Washing Irving making in this passage?

“Oh, I go by various names,” [says the Devil]. “I am the wild huntsman in some countries; the black miner in others. In this neighborhood I am known by the name of the black woodsman. I am he to whom the red men consecrated this spot, and in honor of whom they now and then roasted a white man, by way of sweet-smelling sacrifice. Since the red men have been exterminated by you white savages, I amuse myself by presiding at the persecutions of Quakers and Anabaptists; I am the great patron and prompter of slave-dealers and the grand-master of the Salem witches.”

A) Irving is praising the colonists for taking a stand against evil.

B) Irving is condemning the colonists’ mistreatment of others.

C) Irving is ridiculing the superstitious beliefs of the colonists.

D) Irving is showing the different attitudes colonists have about the devil.

Answers

B) Irving is condemning the colonists’ mistreatment of others.

We know the answer is not “A” because Irving would, thus, need to be praising the devil since he attributes the persecutions to the devil as the devil mentions he presides at the persecutions.  We know the answer is not “C” because superstition is not innately evil and is considered silly to some, and there is nothing silly about the killing those found guilty during the persecutions of the Quakers and Anabaptists.  We know “D” is not the answer because there is no mention as to how colonists view the devil.  There is mention of how the devil is known in other countries; the only mention of the devil and the colonists is how the devil mentions he presides at persecutions.  Thus, we know that “B” is the best response because to describe actions as those being watched over and encouraged by the devil is a condemnation insinuating those taking part are accessories/accomplices to evil.

B) Irving is condemning the colonists mistreatment of others.

Why does Lord Shamash urge Gilgamesh to attack Humbaba?

Answers

Answer:

Humbaba has only one aura, making him easier to defeat.

Explanation:

Lord Shamash encourages Gilgamesh to kill Humbaba, because Lord Shamash hates Humbaba and believes that Gilgamesh has enough power to defeat him.

"Gilgamesh" is an epic tale that depicts Gilgamesh's adventures as he seeks immortality. In this story Lord Shamash, the ancient god of the sun and justice, has a great affection for Gilgamesh, who is a faithful devotee.

Lord Shamash detests Humbaba as he is a creature associated with darkness and evil. He knows that whoever defeats Humbaba will have his name stamped in history and he knows that Gilgamesh is hungry for honor and recognition.

For this reason, Lord Shamash encourages Gilgames to kill Humbaba. He has this idea because:

He believes Gilgamesh has the ability to kill Humbaba.Humbaba has only one aura, which weakens him compared to Gilgamesh.Humbaba's death will cause Lord Shamash to get rid of an enemy.Humbaba's death will bring honor and recognition to Gilgamesh.

In this case, we can conclude that Lord Shamash wanted Umbaba to be killed not only to enhance the name of Gilgamesh, but to get rid of someone he didn't like.

Identify details that Wylie uses to idealize the eastern shore landscape in parts 1-3 of the poem. What expectations do these details create for readers

Answers

Wild Peaches by Elinor Wylie

The line “We’ll swim in milk and honey till we drown” depicts an abundance of supply of food or about prosperity in general. On the other hand, the line “The spring begins before the winter’s over” suggests an ideal weather where winter is short-lived and fair weather is always enjoyed. Finally, the line “We shall live well — we shall live very well” promises a good and comfortable life. Thus, readers expect that life at the Eastern Shore is everybody’s dream life: complete, perfect and ideal.

Final answer:

The question seeks identification of details that romanticize the eastern shore landscape in a poem. Poetic descriptions often utilize vibrant imagery of the landscape, weather, and natural elements, conveying an idealized view that sets readers' expectations for discovering a serene, untouched paradise within the literary piece.

Explanation:

The question asks about specific details used by the poet to idealize the eastern shore landscape in the given parts of the poem. To answer this, one would identify and analyze various elements such as the depictions of the landscape, weather, characters' appearances, and the employment of color and sound within the poetic narrative. For instance, idealized landscapes might be described using vivid imagery that enhances their beauty and tranquility. An example of such idealization can be drawn from the description in WEST WIND, where the valley is portrayed as 'a burnished oval of glittering green' with 'waterfalls of many forms' and a 'broad, lacy sheet' that transforms into 'white and gold and rosy mist.' Similarly, Wylie might use rich descriptions of the island and its surroundings to create a picturesque and almost utopian view of the shore, setting certain expectations for the readers. These descriptions often evoke feelings of peace, majesty, or wonder, and make readers anticipate the discovery of a serene, untouched paradise within the text.

Final answer:

In "The Bells," "jingling, tinkling" is not consonance, the positive degree adjective in the sentence provided is 'harsh,' and in "The Raven," a raven connotatively symbolizes an omen of death.

Explanation:

The words "jingling, tinkling" in line 14 of "The Bells" are an example of repetition and assonance, but they are NOT an example of consonance. Repetition is the use of the same word or phrase multiple times to emphasize a point, while assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds. In contrast, consonance refers to the repetition of consonant sounds, but not necessarily at the end of words.

Among the given sentences, 'The whole coast was beaten by harsh winds.' uses an adjective in the positive degree. Words in the positive degree are used to describe something without making a comparison to something else, as opposed to the comparative degree ('harsher') or the superlative degree ('harshest').

The connotative meaning of the raven in Poe’s "The Raven" implies an omen of death. While a raven is literally a black bird, in literary terms, especially in the context of Poe's poem, it is often associated with ill-omens or death, rather than being a fickle friend.
