In his eroticized Woman I, Willem de Kooning combines biomorphic, organic shapes with harsh, jagged lines; however, we also see that he is one of the few Abstract Expressionists who never completely surrendered __________ painting.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

- Figurative.

Explanation:

'Figurative' painting is characterized as the paintings that have been procured from real human figures or form and thereby, depict or represent them. This form of painting is directly in contrast with the abstract painting that focuses more on 'artificial or abstract form.'

As per the details, Willem de Kooning's paintings of eroticized women along with the combination of biomorphic and organic shapes implies that despite being the abstract expressionist, he never gave up 'figurative painting' as he represents the real human form('eroticized women') that expressed the informal situations related to real life.

Answers

Answer:

(Please vote me Brainliest if this helped!)

B. To preserve the Union

Explanation:

After Abraham Lincoln's victory in the election of 1860, Southern states began seceding from the Union because they felt their interests were no longer represented by a President that wanted to stop slavery while their main economic activities relied on the work performed by slaves, so they created the Confederate States and the Civil War begun.

The main goal of Abraham Lincoln on the Civil War was to preserve the Union, during his campaign he stated that slavery shouldn't be expanded in the United States, meaning that new states would be added as free states, the end of slavery became a goal during the Civil War.

To summarize:

To preserve and restore the Union, which was his central sworn duty as President. Although he also wished very much to see the end of slavery, he only pursued that goal when it aligned with the one of restoring the Union.

B preserve the union

Did you know that the quickest and easiest way to tune your instrument is by listening to the Interval between each string? You have all observed me tune at least a dozen instruments at the beginning of every class, and I really make it look easy. It’s only partly because I am so Talented and good looking, with a little training and practice it is easy!

When I am tuning I have a good idea if the strings are close to intune or not. I have a ‘reference’ pitch which I have memorized, that I use as a starting point. From there I compare the other strings, making adjustments until the Interval between them sounds right. The reference Pitch can be any string, but I like to use the lowest or highest String to start from. Even if your reference pitch is not perfectly accurate, you can still ‘Temper’ your instrument, which means it will be in tune with itself. You might not be tune to A-440, like most of the world, but you will at least be able to practise!

As we started Ear Training by listening to, playing, and recognizing the Intervals in the Major Scale, we learned a few ‘tricks’ to help us determine the sound of a particular Interval. For example the Major 6th is clearly heard with the Call Letters of ‘NBC’ (Boh!). So by using a familiar melody, we can recognize an interval quite easily. We also learned that the Perfect 4th sounds like “here comes the bride”(oy), and a Perfect 5th sounds like “twinkle twinkle”.

The strings of the BASS and most of the strings on the GUITAR are tuned to Perfect 4ths, the second and third-string on the Guitar are a Major 3rd away, and that can be recognized with “Doe, a Deer”.

The strings of the VIOLIN, VIOLA, and CELLO, are tuned to Perfect 5ths which should sound like “Twinkle,Twinkle”

This kind of brings us back to our first lessons in Music Literacy, when we determined the position of the open strings on the Staff. There you can SEE the Intervals you’ve been trained to HEAR.
Many of you have purchased clip-on Tuners that FEEL the vibration of the string, and they work great as long as you are relatively close to the Pitches you want, otherwise they can be very tricky. We will discuss some tricks that will help you get better at all methods of tuning in subsequent lessons, but for now let’s use our ears!

On the following page are a few questions on the information we just shared, please read through the Information again, and reference it in answering the questions as accurately as possible, you will get a 100 for this regardless. Only you can keep it real!

FROM THE FOLLOWING BANK OF TERMS, PLACE THE CAPITOL LETTER OF THE STATEMENT WHICH BEST MATCHES.

A. Perfect 4th B. Tempered C. Major 3rd D. Perfect 5th E. A=400

1. “Doe, a Deer 1.

2. International Standard pitch 2.

3.”Here comes the Bride” 3. (oy)

4.” Twinkle, Twinkle” 4.

5. Tuned to itself. 5.

Answers

Answer:

1. "Doe, a Deer" goes with C. Major 3rd

2. international Standard Pitch goes with E. A=400

3. "Here comes the Bride" goes with A. Perfect 4th

4. "Twinkle, Twinkle" goes with D. Perfect 5th

5. Tuned to itself is B. Tempered

Explanation:

The correct matches for the musical phrases to the terms are: 'Doe, a Deer' to Major 3rd, A=440 to International Standard pitch, 'Here comes the Bride' to Perfect 4th, 'Twinkle, Twinkle' to Perfect 5th, and Tuned to itself to Tempered.

Tuning an instrument by ear involves knowing the interval between the strings and using a reference pitch to begin with. The intervals are often remembered through familiar tunes such as 'Twinkle, Twinkle' for a Perfect 5th or 'Here comes the Bride' for a Perfect 4th. Tuning to a tempered scale means the instrument will be in tune with itself, even if it's not aligned with the international standard pitch of A=440Hz (referred to as concert pitch). Instruments like the piano and guitar, which require precise tuning, can also be tuned using beats to match the frequency of a tuning fork.

When matching the given musical phrases to the type of interval they represent:

Major 3rd: 'Doe, a Deer'

International Standard pitch: A=440

Perfect 4th: 'Here comes the Bride'

Perfect 5th: 'Twinkle, Twinkle'

Tempered: Tuned to itself

In art, what is tint? A. The combination of a color with white to make it lighter B. A color's brightness or dullness, as well as shadows and contrasts created with color C. The difference between one extreme and another, such as light and dark or smooth and textured D. The combination of a color with black to make it darker

Answers

Answer: Answer is A. A tint is a mixture of white, which also reduces the darkness.

Explanation:If you think about it wouldn't be D. because a combination of a color with black to make it darker is a shade.  C. is about texture and feel. B. is like a hue a hue is the mixture of a shade and tint, a shade is a color mixed with black. Like the opposite of a tint. Which leaves us to A.

A tint is when a painter mixes a color with white to make the color lighter. Pink is an illustration of a tint. Red can be made pink by mixing white with it. When a painter wants to darken a color, they add black to create a shade. Thus, option A is correct.

What is the relation of tint in art?

Any hue or combination of pure colors to which white is added is referred to as a tint. Most pastel hues have a tint to them. The color of the tinted color doesn't change, but it is paler than the original.

According to color theory, a shade is a mixing with black, which enhances darkness, and a tint is a mixture with white, which increases lightness.

The relative saturation of the final color mixture is impacted by both procedures. A tone can be created by shading and tinting separately or by combining the two.

Therefore,  A tint is a mixture of white, which also reduces the darkness.

How is it that we know so much about now-lost Greek sculpture?

Answers

The sculpture of ancient Greece from 800 to 300 BCE took early inspiration from Egyptian and Near Eastern monumental art, and over centuries evolved into a uniquely Greek vision of the art form. Greek artists would reach a peak of artistic excellence which captured the human form in a way never before seen and which was much copied. Greek sculptors were particularly concerned with proportion, poise, and the idealised perfection of the human body, and their figures in stone and bronze have become some of the most recognisable pieces of art ever produced by any civilization.
Some Roman sculptures (that we still have) are copies of Greek originals.

Who is your favorite character in The Pirates Of Penzance operetta and why?

Answers

Answer:

Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular show, The Pirates of Penzance, is a rollicking, delightfully funny tale of a band of soft-tempered pirates. Mistakenly apprenticed to a pirate (instead of a pilot) by his nursemaid Ruth at the age of eight, the handsome Frederic is now twenty-one and, though quite fond of the group of joyous and fun-loving pirates, chooses to abandon his profession and “lead a blameless life henceforth,” dedicating himself instead to their eradication. Shortly after leaving them, he encounters a gaggle of beautiful maidens (one of whom, Mabel, steals his heart) and their father, the eccentric Major-General. The whole group has a run-in with the pirates themselves before escaping on the false premise that the Major-General is an orphan -- a fact these tenderhearted pirates simply cannot help but take into account, given the fact that the majority of them are orphans themselves and “know what it’s like.” Just as Frederic is ready to lead a band of lily-livered policemen to take out the Pirate King and his men, a secret is uncovered that will change his fate forever, but, naturally, all comes out right in the end. Beloved since its premiere in 1879, The Pirates of Penzance (or The Slave of Duty) is a delightful farce of a classic that is fun for all ages.

In the late nineteenth century, children and apprentices of wigmakers amused themselves by playing the "wig game." Research and summarize what they did to accumulate points in this historical game.

Answers

Answer: The original item used by the children in the game was a wig.

Explanation:

Kids have always found ways to have fun and complement their carefree everyday life. Unlike in childhood today, thanks to technological and other scientific advances, children were offered various ways to have fun, this was not the case in the late 19th century. A popular game among children was the so-called "Wig Game". The kids used old wigs in this game.

These wigs would be thrown by the children into the air and then tried to "catch them with their heads". If the hair falls appropriately on the head, or if the child catches it, it would count as a point. Whoever scores more points this way in the wig game was the winner.

The correct summary of the wig game as played by children and apprentices of wigmakers in the late nineteenth century is as follows:

In the wig game, participants would attempt to accumulate points by capturing wigs from opponents while wearing their own wigs. The game was played in a manner similar to tag or capture the flag. Each player would don a wig and try to snatch other players' wigs without having their own wig taken.

Successfully capturing a wig would earn the player points, and sometimes additional points were awarded for particularly skillful or daring maneuvers.

The game was a way for the children and apprentices to develop agility and quick reflexes, which were valuable skills in the wigmaking trade. It also served as a form of entertainment and a break from the rigors of their work.

The exact rules and point system could vary from one community or group of players to another, but the central objective of capturing wigs to earn points remained consistent.

D. Very little modeling of the figure with dark patches of shapes in the background.

Answers

The statement best describes the style of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is very little modeling of the figure with dark patches of shapes in the background. Thus the correct option is D.

What is Mona Lisa?

The most well-known, identifiable, and frequently duplicated piece of art in history is Leonardo da Vinci's iconic Mona Lisa. It was painted between 1503 and 1519, and for many years, the French monarchy enjoyed it.

Leonardo conceptually invented the parachute, the helicopter, an armored fighting vehicle, a basic theory of plate tectonics, and the double bottom side. He also conceptually invented the use of concentrated solar power.

The inventive painting methods da Vinci employed, his in-depth understanding of architecture, his creative use of the human form in figurative design, and his use of sfumato are just a few of the characteristics that set his work apart.

Therefore, option D is appropriate.

Final answer:

The statement that best describes the style of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is B. A hazy atmosphere with gradations of chiaroscuro. This choice correctly identifies the subtle transitions between light and dark used to create the three-dimensional form in the painting.

Explanation:

Leonardo utilized a technique known as chiaroscuro, an Italian term meaning 'light-dark,' to convey the volume and three-dimensionality of forms on a flat surface by varying shades of light and darkness. This technique is masterfully applied to the face and hands of the sitter in the Mona Lisa, contributing to the illusion of depth and volume in those areas. Furthermore, Leonardo employed a softening of edges known as 'sfumato' to create a hazy effect and subtle gradations of tone, which enhance the enigmatic quality of the subject's smile and contribute to the overall atmospheric ambiguity of the background. This approach contrasts sharply with heavy outlines or flat planes of color, glowing colors with sharp edges, or minimal modeling with dark background shapes, eliminating the other answer options and solidifying option B as the correct description of Leonardo's style in the Mona Lisa.
