Hispanic immigrants Group of answer choices prefer and obtain high wage jobs because they are bilingual. are not protected from employment discrimination. are sometimes exploited by employers due to their immigrant status. have low employment rates because of their low educational levels.

Answers

Answer:

Hispanic immigrants usually face lots of racism, plus if you are an illegal immigrant it is well, illegal. But a legal immigrant can usually get work easier. Hispanic immigrants typically are willing to work long and hard hours for not much pay because of where they have come from, making them good workers for hard jobs other people wouldn't want to do. But due to them immigrating they usually lack education. Knowing this might help make your decision.

Final answer:

Hispanic immigrants in the U.S. face educational and language barriers hindering high-wage employment. Many suffer workplace violations and lack union representation. However, some immigrants do achieve high-wage jobs through sponsorship or unique skills.

Explanation:

Hispanic immigrants in the United States encounter various challenges in the labor market. Barriers to better employment for immigrants often include a lack of education and English-speaking ability. Around 29% of immigrant workers do not hold a high school diploma and about 46% have limited English proficiency, significantly impacting their ability to secure high-wage jobs. Higher-skilled immigrant workers, however, can obtain jobs with better pay and job stability, particularly in industries like healthcare and information technology.

Unfortunately, immigrant workers frequently face workplace violations, with many being more likely to experience minimum wage violations or be employed in dangerous industries, leading to a higher rate of workplace injuries. Limited English skills can exacerbate these issues as immigrants may struggle with self-advocacy or accessing union representation, with only 10% being represented compared to 14% of the native-born workforce.

Despite challenges, there is a proportion of immigrants who acquire high-skilled, high-paying jobs due to their unique talents and training, and these individuals often gain sponsorship from U.S. employers. Although some immigrants enjoy economic success and income levels akin to or exceeding certain U.S. born groups, others, particularly undocumented workers, often remain entrapped in low-wage jobs with limited opportunities for upward mobility.

D) By encouraging the Yamassee Native Americans to raid it

During the 1730s, the English colonists of South Carolina had a profitable trade centre in Charleston's seaport by encouraging the Yamassee Native Americans to raid it. The correct option is d.

Who were the Yamassee Native Americans?

The Yamassee Native Americans were a multiethnic confederation of Native Americans who lived in the coastal region of present-day northern coastal Georgia near the Savannah River and later in northeastern Florida. The Yamasees engaged in revolts and wars with other native groups and Europeans living in North America, specifically from Florida to North Carolina.

The Yamasees, along with the Guale, are considered from linguistic evidence by many scholars to have been a Muskogean language, people. For example, the Yamasee term Mico, meaning chief, is also common in Muskogee. After the Yamasees migrated to the Carolinas, they began participating in the Indian slave trade in the American Southeast. They raided other tribes to take captives for sale to European colonists. Captives from other Native American tribes were sold into slavery, with some being transported to West Indian plantations.

A. force compliance with the existing antitrust laws.

B. encourage business competition.

C. promote the standardization of products.

D. help business to combat labor unionization.

E. circumvent the antitrust laws.

Answer:

C. promote the standardization of products.

D. help business to combat labor unionization.

Explanation:

Robert Hoover was the 31st President of the United States of America. His tenure was from 1929 to 1933. He was a Republican.

In the 1920s, the United States Commerce Department under Herbert Hoover encouraged the creation of trade associations to

promote the standardization of products and to also aid businesses in combating labor unionization.

Final answer:

Herbert Hoover, as Secretary of Commerce during the 1920s, promoted the formation of trade associations as part of his belief in voluntary cooperation among businesses to regulate the market, rather than directly enforcing antitrust laws or explicitly fostering competition.

Explanation:

In the 1920s, Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover served under Presidents Harding and Coolidge with a vision to foster a cooperative relationship between the government and businesses. Hoover encouraged the creation of trade associations, a part of his broader strategic ethos known as "associationalism," which was aimed at promoting voluntary cooperation among businesses to regulate themselves and stabilize the economy. This approach was different from aggressively enforcing antitrust laws; instead, Hoover believed that by encouraging businesses to work together, it would naturally limit harmful practices and contribute to economic stability and growth without heavy-handed government intervention.

Hoover's push for trade associations did not primarily intend to force compliance with the existing antitrust laws or to encourage business competition in the traditional sense. It stemmed from a philosophy that the collaboration of businesses in associations could achieve a regulated and stable market, which would benefit the overall economy and act as a bulwark against economic extremes and inefficiencies. Thereby, it involved a form of market self-regulation rather than direct enforcement of antitrust laws.

What is the graph 4=y2

Answers

Answer:

Number line with marks on y = 2 and y = -2. See the first graph attached.

Explanation:

4 = y² is an equation that yields two values of y.

Then, its graph consists of two points on the number line;

         [tex]4=y^2\\\\y^2=4\\\\y=\pm\sqrt{4} \\\\y=\pm2\\\\y_1=2\\\\y_2=-2[/tex]

That is, the graph istwo points that show the solutions, one point on the mark y = 2 and the other on the mark y = -2.

This is a one dimensional graph: just two points on the number line.

See the first graph attahed.

I will also talk you about the function 4x = y², just in case the question is mssing the variable x.

The graph of 4x = y² is a horizontal parabola, i.e. it symmetry axis is parallel to the x-axis.

The standard form of the equation of a horizontal  parabola is:

          [tex](y-k)^2=4p(x-h)[/tex]

With p ≠ 0.

The point with coordinates (h,k) is the vertex.

The point with coordinates (h + p, k) is the focus.

The line x = h - p is the directrix.

The axis of symmetry is the line y = k.

Positive values of p (p > 0) means the parabola opens to the right, and negative values of p (p < 0), means the parabola opens to the left.

4x = y² means:

h = 0, k = 0, 4p = 4 ⇒ p = 1.

Then:

vertex (0,0)focus (0,0)directrix: line x  = 0 - 1 = - 1axis of symmetry: line y = 0it opens to the right.

With that, you can understand the second graph attached.

How did the establishment of Israel affect the Middle East?

Answers

Answer:

Whereas the Western world regarded the creation of Israel in May 1948 as a triumph for humanity--the righting for Jews of the terrible wrong of the Holocaust--Israel’s Arab neighbours saw the event as a catastrophe. The argument of the early Zionist leaders that the Jews, through their enterprise and skill, would bring the benefits of modernization to the Palestinian Arabs was not accepted by the latter. They did not think they needed such help, and they feared the usurpation of their ancestral homeland by foreigners who were supported by the major powers--the United States and the Soviet Union in particular.

The 1947 UN partition resolution proposed to divide the territory of Mandatory Palestine--the area between the Jordan River Valley and the Mediterranean Sea--into a Jewish state and an Arab state in economic union, with Jerusalem established as an international enclave. Although the 650,000 Jews in Palestine owned only 7% of the land, 55% of it was to go to the Jewish state, whereas the 1.2 million Palestinian Arabs would receive 45%. The Arab governments and the Palestinian Arabs rejected both the concept of partition and the terms of the resolution and decided to oppose it by force. In the armed struggle that followed, the Arabs, in spite of the intervention of Arab armies, were defeated by the better organized and equipped Jews, who ended up with 77% of the land.

For the Arabs the most immediate result was the creation of a refugee problem. Some 725,000 Arab Palestinians left the area that became Israel. Such direct testimony as exists indicated that many refugees left in fear as the fighting intensified. Others were "encouraged" to leave by Israeli psychological warfare, and a substantial number were expelled by the Israeli army, sometimes brutally. Despite a number of UN resolutions calling for repatriation of the refugees after the fighting stopped, the Israelis refused to permit it. The Israelis tended to emphasize the security problem that the return of the refugees would create, but the political problem was perhaps greater. Approximately 42% of the population of the area allocated to the Jewish state by the partition resolution was Arab, and, given differences in population-growth rates, the Arabs would soon have outnumbered the Jews. As it is, the 150,000 Arabs allowed to remain in the area controlled by Israel, plus their descendants, now number nearly one million.

The Arab states reacted by refusing to accept or recognize Israel and imposed an economic boycott on that country. Although this limited Israel’s economic potential, it also imposed limitations on the Arabs. Aside from the loss of well-established markets for their produce and labour, Syria and Jordan could no longer use the oil refinery and port of Haifa, and the Iraq Petroleum Co.’s oil pipeline across the desert from Baghdad had to be rerouted. Jordan had no access to the sea except through the port of Aqaba, to which there was no paved road. Land communication between Egypt and the Arab states east of the Jordan became impossible. To avoid overflying Israel, air routes had to be changed, often at considerable expense, and the transit trade through Haifa, which had been important to Jordan and Palestine, shifted to Beirut. These obstacles were overcome in time, but it required wrenching adjustments in trade patterns and the severe loss of income to towns like Jerusalem, which had benefited from the flow of goods and tourists between the Mediterranean and the Arab hinterland to the East. Ironically, Israel, forced by the boycott to leapfrog over its neighbours to find markets, became a major exporter of technology throughout the world and in 1998 had a per capita income and physical quality of life far superior to other nations in the region.

The Palestine problem also became an overriding issue in Arab politics and a source of much tension and instability. In both Syria and Egypt, and eventually in Iraq, the incompetence of the old regime in the 1948 war was a major justification for seizure of power by the military, and Jordan’s King Abdullah was assassinated in 1951 because he had dealt directly with the Israelis on a division of the spoils in Palestine.

A desire to avenge the 1948 defeat and fears of Israeli expansionism became an obsession with the Arabs. Enormous amounts of money that could have gone to social and economic programs were spent on armaments and military preparations. Israel responded in kind, and the "Near East" (the Arab states and Israel plus Iran) became the less-developed world’s largest importer of weapons. Three major Arab-Israeli wars causing tens of thousands of casualties were fought--in 1956, 1967, and 1973--before any movement toward a meaningful peace began.

It created much tension in the region.

The Wilmot Proviso was never approved by both houses of Congress, despite numerous attempts. But the Republican Party, established in 1854 and dedicated to supporting the Wilmot principle, was born out of the desire by both Democrats and Whigs to defer to or compromise on the slavery question.
