The last question best uses a verb that agrees with its subject.

In the first sentence, the verb "needs" implies that the subject is singular. However, the subject(bricks) is plural. The correct verb would be: NEED

The second sentence actually had the opposite problem as the first. The subject (radio)  is singular, but the verb "are" implies that it is plural. The correct verb would be: IS

The third sentence follows the same mistake as the second. The subject is singular (conductor), but the verb "are" implies that is plural. The correct verb would be: IS.

The last sentence is correct because the verb "are" implies that the subject is plural, and indeed it is! Buses is the plural form of bus.

Is transmit suffix tion sion or ic

Answers

Transmission. Writing extra words for 20 characters

Final answer:

The suffix for the word 'transmit' is '-ion,' making the word 'transmission.' This suffix is used to form nouns from verbs, indicating the action or process of the verb. Understanding different suffixes like '-ion,' '-sion,' and '-ic' is key in transforming words accurately.

Explanation:

The suffix in the word transmit would be -ion, resulting in the word 'transmission.' The use of -ion as a suffix is quite common in English to form nouns indicating an action or condition. This particular suffix is used to turn verbs into nouns, indicating the process or result of the verb. For example, the act of transmitting becomes transmission, similar to how digest becomes indigestion when denoting the action or process of digestion.

Distinguishing between suffixes like -ion, -sion, and -ic is crucial for understanding how verbs can transform into nouns or adjectives, respectively. -Sion and -ion are often used interchangeably, but their application depends on the base word's ending sound or letters, while -ic is primarily for forming adjectives.

Which statement is an effective claim?

I think mini-vans are more practical than economy cars.
Rules about teenage curfews should be changed.
There are several advantages to having a library card.
Traditional schools should allow students to attend online courses.

Answers

Answer:

It would be B.

Explanation:

Well, a claim is a line that tells you straightly which side of an argument your on.

B imediately tells you the person wants to change the rules, it doesn't say "Their are several advantages" because you don't say that to make it effective and also you shouldn't use opinion because others will have a different opinion.

Usually, try avoiding opinions where they are more than 2 outcomes. Only try going for 2. This makes it so that their is a limit of answers so you don't have to list them all.

Usually their is only more than one outcome when finding the theme of a short story or novel.

Final answer:

The most effective claim is, 'Traditional schools should allow students to attend online courses,' as it provides a clear argument that can be supported with evidence. This claim ties into the broader themes of technology use in education and the trend toward remote learning, enabling a structured and evidence-backed debate.

Explanation:

An effective claim is one that clearly states a debatable position that can be supported with evidence and reason. Among the provided options, the statement “Traditional schools should allow students to attend online courses” is an effective claim. It presents a clear argument that can be debated and supported with evidence, addressing an educational policy that can be analyzed and discussed in an argumentative essay. This claim ties back to broader themes such as the growing use of technology in education and remote and hybrid schooling. It also allows the writer to explore various aspects of the argument, including its implications, benefits, and potential drawbacks.

When creating a claim, it’s important to present a viewpoint that prompts discussion and is not too broad or vague. Claims that are too grandiose, lack specificity, or do not provide room for debate are less effective in academic writing. An example of a narrow claim that is debatable and could be effectively argued is, “For safety reasons, public signage should be”, which could be completed with a specific recommendation allowing for evidence-backed argumentation.

The process of backing up your claim with evidence is crucial. Evidence lends credibility to an argument and demonstrates the truth of the claim. For example, citing specific studies or examples can bolster the argument that “Traditional schools should allow students to attend online courses” by showcasing their effectiveness or addressing potential concerns about education quality.

In Mississippi, names of new voter applicants had to be published in local newspapers for two weeks before acceptance, and voters had the right to object to an applicant's "moral character." (from The Need for Change, www.nps.gov) Using context clues, explain what discrimination means in regards to excerpt above. Be sure to write your answer in complete sentences referencing the excerpt above.

In this excerpt, discrimination means that black people are being told they can't vote by white people, just because they are black. If a black person tried to vote, a white person could kick them off their farm, and in order to even try to vote they had to put their name in the paper. If a white person did not like them, they would be allowed to take away their chance at voting. Because of these details the reader can see that discrimination is a way a group of people is being treated by another group of people which is unfair.

He wanted to prove that the power could be transferred to other objects. He grabbed a kite and experimented on a stormy afternoon. Franklin believed that thunderclouds contained electrical charges. His plan was to fly the kite into the clouds so that electricity passed down the wet kite string. With his son, William, as his assistant, he went to work. First, he tied an iron key to the silk kite string. Next, he ran a metal wire from the key into a jar designed to store electrical charges. Once the kite was in the air, he stood in a barn to keep safe and dry. Soon, electrical charges from the clouds passed into the kite. They traveled along the wet string, to the key, down the wire, and into the jar. When Franklin reached his hand toward the key, he received a mild shock. The electricity had been captured and transferred. The experiment was a success. At least it was for Benjamin Franklin. Other scientists were killed trying to duplicate his efforts. Looking back, it was not the safest way to test his theory. In this case, it worked out and paved the way for future discoveries about electricity. Text 2: A Shocking and Stormy Night by Prentice Newton I saw a shocking thing last night that I cant quite explain. On the street outside my window, a man stood in the rain. Twas strange to see him all alone on such a stormy night. Who goes out in a thunderstorm and tries to fly a kite? He tied a key around the string then looked up to the sky. He showed no fear as thunder crashed then launched the kite up high. I found the whole thing frightening from the safety of my room. I watched each flash of lightning with a growing sense of doom. Then a burst of light struck the kite. It glowed as if on fire. The string lit up as if it were a red-hot piece of wire. And in the midst of all of this, my eyes beheld the key. It danced upon the kite string as if filled with energy. Down on the ground, quite safe and sound, the man was dancing, too. The reason for his happiness? I have not got a clue. Was he just pleased that he survived or was it something more? My curiosity was sparked, but Ill never know for sure.
