How was the tie between Jefferson and burr Settled after the election of 1800

Answers

The tie between Jefferson and Burr in 1800 was resolved by the House of Representatives, electing Jefferson as president.

The tie between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr in the election of 1800 was resolved through the House of Representatives according to the procedures outlined in the Constitution. Despite Jefferson clearly being intended as the presidential candidate and Burr as the vice presidential candidate on the Democratic-Republican ticket, both received the same number of electoral votes. In the House, each state delegation cast one vote, and after 36 ballots, Jefferson was ultimately elected president and Burr vice president. The tie was broken partly due to Alexander Hamilton's influence, who saw Jefferson as the lesser of two evils compared to Burr. This event led to the passage of the 12th Amendment to the Constitution, which clarified the process for electing the president and vice president separately, preventing such ties in the future.

Before the cotton gin, how long would it take a skilled person to remove the seeds from one pound of cotton?

Answers

It could take hours and hours to finish that task. But with the invention of the cotton gin it became a much shorter task

A skilled worker could manually remove seeds from only one pound of cotton per day before the invention of the cotton gin, which then increased productivity to fifty pounds a day.

Before the invention of the cotton gin by Eli Whitney in 1793, a skilled worker could only remove the seeds from one pound of cotton per day by hand. This time-consuming process involved manually separating the seeds from the cotton fibers, which was both labor-intensive and inefficient. With the creation of the cotton gin, it became possible to remove the seeds from up to fifty pounds of cotton in a day, greatly accelerating the cotton production process and boosting the profitability of cotton as a cash crop in the South. The increase in efficiency brought by the cotton gin also contributed to the rise in cotton production from around 73,000 bales in 1800 to 730,000 bales by 1820, ultimately leading the United States to produce about 68 percent of the world's cotton by mid-century.

B) protect all rights for the citizens and made a Bill of Rights useless. C) be controversial, but would eventually help to unite the country as one nation. D) eventually need a Bill of Rights, but it was too important to get the document ratified.

Which North African nation exports more oil than all but 15 other countries in the world
Libya
Egypt
Algeria
Tunisia

Answers

Final answer:

Algeria exports more oil than all but 15 other countries in the world, and its oil and natural gas exports constitute a significant part of its export income. It is an OPEC member, reinforcing its position as a significant oil exporter. While Libya also has substantial oil exports, Algeria has a more prominent role as evidenced by trade and economic data.

Explanation:

Which North African Nation Exports More Oil?

Among the North African nations listed, namely Libya, Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, it is Algeria that exports more oil than all but 15 other countries in the world. This fact can be supported by Algeria's membership in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). As mentioned, almost 95 percent of the export income for Algeria comes from oil and natural gas exports, emphasizing the nation's significant role in the global energy market. Moreover, the oil reserves discovered in the Maghreb region, particularly in Algeria and Libya, are crucial for meeting Europe's growing energy needs.

Libya also has considerable oil exports and wealth generated from oil has enabled infrastructure projects. However, when comparing Libya with Algeria in terms of their significance in oil exports, Algeria has a more notable position. Both countries have vast desert areas like the Sahara, which is pertinent because such environments dictate the natural resource extraction practices and economic dependencies in these regions.

It is important to note that many of the Maghreb countries, including Morocco and Tunisia, have an array of natural resources. Still, when focusing on oil exports, Algeria stands out among the North African nations with a robust oil export economy, making it one of the top countries in that regard.

A) the Civil War
B) the Revolutionary War
C) the Constitutional Convention
D) the Declaration of Independence

Answers

"Reconstruction" refers to the period immediately following the Civil War. It really has a double meaning: in addition to the physical act of rebuilding areas of the South is also refers to federal government overseeing the former Confederate states in order to monitor the treatment of former slaves. This period lasted until 1877.

States had to give all citizens, regardless of their race or religion, equal protection under the law as a result of Fourteenth Amendment.

Option A is an appropriate response.

What is the fourteen amendment ?

The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified on July 9, 1868. By extending citizenship to everyone who were born in the nation or who were naturalized citizens, the amendment made sure that everyone in the nation had access to freedom, due process, and equal protection under the law.

In particular, it strengthened the federal government's control over how the States treat their residents. It provided the racial discrimination civil rights movement with a legal foundation. Other movements concerning gender, age, and physical impairments gained pace as a result of that movement.

In the years immediately following the Civil War, from 1865 through 1877, many US administrations worked to rebuild society, especially in the former Confederate states, by creating and defending the legal rights of the newly liberated black people.

Hence, the appropriate responses are option A and option A respectively.

For my groups that have faced discrimination in American history, I have chosen African Americans and Women. First, let's start off with African Americans!

For the African Americans, they didn't have much rights as other people. They were treated bad just because of their skin color, and because of that, people made them into slaves. They also had to follow the jim crow laws. In 1954 the war of civil rights started, where everyone was fighting for their rights. Then the civil rights have ended it was 1968. They always had hope, because they always passed down the name Martin Luther and how he changed point of views. They will always remember the speech, "I have a dream".

The next group is Women. Women had very little legal rights. They were housewives, they cannot vote nor hold office. They were treated badly just because they were a different gender.  They had to put up with the law if they did something bad, and if they did something bad, they would be put in jail. In 1848 they had a Seneca Falls Convention, where all the woman that want rights will go on strike until they get what they want. They were proud and happy. Then in 1869, a National Woman Suffrage Association was held by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady. This was a woman organization to fight for women's suffrage. They pushed and pushed until they got what they wanted!in 1920 the 19th Amendment for Women gain the right to vote.

For the African Americans and woman, even though they were challenged by the government, they kept going because of love and for the future! They were discriminated and hated on, just because of what they were different in. These groups have gone a far way just to make a change in the future! That's why we have holidays to remind of what they did for us!

There are much more American heroes that I could have picked but I choose African Americans and women because they made a big impact for the future and that could mean a lot for some people. As we continue to go forward we will break the boundaries and limits until we can get full rights!
Final answer:

The African Americans faced discrimination in the form of the Jim Crow laws. The government prohibited this discrimination with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Japanese Americans faced discrimination during World War II being interned in camps. Only in 1988, the government apologized and offered redress with the Civil Liberties Act.

Explanation:

The subject of the question is discrimination faced by different groups throughout American history and the actions that the federal government has taken in response. We are going to discuss the African Americans and the Japanese Americans.

African Americans faced extensive discrimination following the abolition of slavery, often in the form of Jim Crow laws which segregated them socially. The government’s response came in the form of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, protecting the rights of African Americans.

In the case of the Japanese Americans, they faced severe discrimination during World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, over 120,000 Japanese Americans were interned in camps by an executive order. This showed the federal government's actions limiting their rights during wartime. Only in 1988, the government apologized by signing the Civil Liberties Act, offering redress to surviving internment victims.

Overall, the federal government's actions have both protected and limited the rights of various groups facing discrimination in American history, reflecting the complex nature of social issues.

What was the outcome of the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti?

Answers

Sacco and Vanzetti were two Italian immigrants in the US who were accused of robbery and murder during the early 20th century (1919-1920). When the trail was held, many knew about these individuals because of their radical political views. Both men were considered anarchists, aka people who wanted no government in society at all. Due to these views, many assumed the worst of these individuals.

Ultimately they were found guilty and were executed. Italian immigrants and other individuals all over the country tried to stop the execution from happening, claiming these men faced an unfair trial. Regardless, the court did not overturn its decision and both men were executed.
Final answer:

Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were executed following a trial influenced by their anarchist beliefs and immigrant status, despite the lack of direct evidence. The case prompted widespread protests and was later acknowledged by Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis as an unfair trial on the 50th anniversary of their execution.

Explanation:

The trial of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants with anarchist beliefs, resulted in their execution despite there being no direct evidence linking them to the crime of robbery and murder for which they were accused. The Sacco-Vanzetti Trials became a symbol of the post-World War I Red Scare in America, exhibiting the country's fear of immigrants and radical political ideas. The case sparked a worldwide response with noted figures like Albert Einstein and Upton Sinclair advocating for their innocence, but appeals and international protests ultimately failed to prevent their execution on August 23, 1927. On the 50th anniversary of their executions, Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis issued a proclamation acknowledging that the men had been unfairly tried and convicted.
