Which statement best describes why an author uses a logical fallacy to appeal to emotion?

Answers

Answer 1

An author may use a logical fallacy to appeal to emotion to manipulate the audience's feelings instead of presenting sound arguments, possibly due to a lack of strong evidence or a belief in the power of emotional impact. While pathos can be powerful, it becomes fallacious when it substitutes logical reasoning.

An author uses a logical fallacy to appeal to emotion when they attempt to persuade the audience by manipulating their feelings rather than presenting robust logical arguments. This manipulation of emotions may be utilized because the author believes that the emotional impact will be more convincing or believes that the logic of the argument is weak. Emotional appeals can provoke a range of feelings from joy to rage, and when these appeals to emotion supersede logical reasoning, they can be seen as fallacious tactics. Pathos, the emotional appeal, is powerful but needs to be used judiciously to avoid undermining the argument's credibility.

Instances such as using an appeal to pity can evoke sympathy but do not enhance the logical structure of the underlying claim. While eliciting emotions is an integral part of effective persuasion, it crosses into fallacy when it replaces logical evidence entirely. Emotions play a substantial role in swaying opinions, and therefore, authors often use them strategically in their writings.

Mr. Morrison never made sounds like that.Which detail from the excerpt best helps the reader determine a tone of alarm? I had gotten as far west as the Dakotas my silent recitation a tapping on the porch Mr. Morrison never made sounds like that.

Answers

Answer:

The detail from the excerpt that best helps the reader determine a tone of alarm is "Mr. Morrison never made sounds like that."

Explanation:

The speaker was in silent recitation when she was interrupted by a tapping on the porch. So far, there is nothing that conveys a sense of alarm. A tapping on the porch could be a normal, expected occurrence, especially if it is a sound the speaker can recognize. What really determines a tone of alarm is the fact that the speaker lays very still because she does not recognize the sound. It is a sound Mr. Morrison never made. It is with this information that we get to know there is something strange, suspicious, and alarming about the tapping on the porch.

"Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" is a novel by author Mildred D. Taylor. It discusses racial issues during the Great Depression through the eyes of the narrator and main character, Cassie Logan.

Does the cell membrane shrink during plasmolysis

Answers

Answer:

Does the cell membrane shrink during plasmolysis?

Explanation:

Plasmolysis is the shrinking of the cytoplasm of a plant cell in response to diffusion of water out of the cell and into a high salt concentration solution. During plasmolysis, the cell membrane pulls away from the cell wall. This does not happen in low salt concentration because of the rigid cell wall.

Final answer:

In plasmolysis, the cell membrane of a plant cell detaches and constricts the cytoplasm in a hypertonic solution, while the rigid cell wall remains intact. The cell membrane itself does not shrink.

Explanation:

During plasmolysis, the cell membrane does not shrink. Instead, in a hypertonic environment, water leaves the plant cell causing the cell membrane to detach from the cell wall and constrict the cytoplasm. The surrounding cell wall does not shrink and remains intact, which is a key structural difference between plant cells and animal cells. In contrast, animal cells without a cell wall will shrink, also known as crenate, when in a hypertonic solution. This phenomenon demonstrates the unique osmoregulatory strategies different organisms adopt to manage changes in their environment.

Immaturity can mean being irresponsible, and irresponsible driving can be dangerous. So I believe it depends on the maturity of the person.
